Re: Missing 411: Really Strange

Orgone? I thought that was a misspelling, but I found a link for an "Orgone EMF Protection Pyramid". I would like to point out that the Great Pyramid of Giza has provided very good protection for Khufu. For his body, anyway. I thought his body and tomb were never found. He wasn't in the pyramid. Hi...

Re: Has the Coronavirus affected your daily life?

The WuFlu still hasn't had much impact on my life, but I finally broke down and bought a mask, just in case SC, or my county says I absolutely, positively, have to wear one in public. That's pretty funny Paul. It figures someone somewhere would start making real plague masks again. It helps me have...

Re: Got first Spyderco, somewhat disappointed...

Nice knife by the way. That should last a lifetime and CPM M4 steel is one of the all time best knife steels. Amazing stuff! My guess is there was a stray piece of the blade coating stuck in there doing what you described. Washing it out with oil then cleaning it with a clean cloth or paper towel sh...

Re: Combat Aircraft

It's when those engines stopped leaking oil that you needed to worry. :) Those F4's were loud. I remember back when the Blue Angels were flying them. I saw them perform up close at Cleveland's Burke Lakefront Airport. They had a nice P51 vs. F4F Corsair demonstration that day. With those huge flaps ...

Re: Got first Spyderco, somewhat disappointed...

I'd say you have gotten some excellent advice and some terrible advice as well. OK, my advice. Never try to take a brand new Spyderco apart to "fix" it. If it's that bad the Spyderco people need to see it to find where things went wrong. If you send a new knife in for that and you haven't messed it ...

Re: Canis, who waited ten years.

Not to derail this thread, but if you ever want a self defense knife that's comparable to your Endura...take a look at the Matriarch 2. Same handle as the Endura. Just in case you didn't know or haven't looked before. Thanks. Yes, I have one. It sits in it's box because it isn't as useful to me for...

Re: Combat Aircraft

Growing up where I did there was a tank, or artillery piece or aircraft in the park, town hall lot or lodge of every small town and city for people to see, climb on and wonder at. The Air Force museum was a couple hours drive away and we would go there yearly. In the 60's it seemed like every male t...

Re: Canis, who waited ten years.

It seemed much less controversial then... It depends on who you are speaking to. :) I'm not sure that controversial is how I'd describe it though. It's just a matter of liking or maybe just finding useful . We are all different in our needs and likes but I've never been against the idea of knives t...

Re: Canis, who waited ten years.

I'm just not seeing it. The grip looks comfortable if held in one position/grip. The top bevel confuses me though. Is there a reason for it? That old Blackhawk looks NIB. I remember those. Anyways, glad for you. It's always nice getting something you have waited a long time for. Enjoy. Spyderco's ar...

Re: Why Do People Hate Knives?

People have been brainwashed into believing that guns and knives have a mind of their own which is total and complete hogwash. Blaming inanimate objects is a lot easier than putting the blame on people who can fight back politically and economically. The thought of the latter nowadays is a very rea...

Re: First time you saw a Sypderco?

Back in the early 80's I used to see a Spyderco ad in most of the gun magazines I'd read. I recall the Worker and thought " Where is the wood for the grips?" The blade shape was pretty cool though unusual and I remember being intrigued by the opening hole . I recall seeing them in magazine ads for y...

Re: H-1 is subpar???

Basic carbon steels really have little going for them when it comes down to carbides and wear resistance. I'm not real sure which steel Hultafors uses in it's knives but I doubt it has much more wear resistance than PE H1 in mediums like rope or cardboard which need carbides to have any lasting slic...

Re: Performance Rankings: Knife Steels

Most of these ratings are a compilation of notes from the notes app from my phone that added up over the last couple years from personal usage, reading articles, websites, forums, etc. It's mostly qualitative
Are you performance ranking steels you haven't tried yet? :)

Re: Manly knives?

Anyone familiar with Manly knives? Great name, to be sure. When I first saw the name it was in reference to the just ( back then) released Manly "Comrade". I thought some troll was advertising g@% porn to be honest. :o I kept hearing about their knives and finally decided to buy a "Peak" in S90V . ...

Re: What's your Favorite Rex Sprint Run?

Hap 40 lineup or Rex 45 line. If there was a Cruwear lineup including an Endura that would be first for me. I'm not including the K390 line because it's not out yet but that would be near the top. The entire Superblue line was a winner and still a favorite.

Welcome to Spyderco forum Gaston. Since we knew each other over on Bladeforums and recall you had some pretty unusual ideas about steel and performance I'll get you started. Go to Larrin's ( the metallurgist ) website and read every article there. Then donate money to help keep his research availabl...
