Re: Your TWO To Return In 2020

Wayne Goddard lightweight in Cruwear or 4V

C95 in 3V, 4V, Cruwear or K390

Both of the above must have at least some PE models for them to be useful to me.

Re: Rex 45 vs K390?

If REX45 is worse, really why this discussion?
Because they are excellent steels and we like them. In fact I prefer them over any stainless. Now is it OK to discuss them? :)

Re: Rescue Assist for L.E.O ?

I've gifted a lot of knives to people over the years. One thing I've found that holds true is that unless the person picks the knife for themselves it will eventually be put down or "lost". This is especially true for the women in my life. I now always give them a box and let them choose. It is the ...

Re: Favorite movie fight scenes

Yes, Bolo is a real martial artist. His favorite style, believe it or not, is Tai Chi. Although in his youth he studied different systems, and also trained a little with Bruce Lee. In the movies, among many hard-core KF movie fans, Bolo was often known (for better or worse) for his “no-look style,”...

Re: Favorite movie fight scenes

Dirty Ho is a good movie. It has played on El Ray network a few times in the last year. How can anyone forget Paul Smith. He was the guard/rapist in Midnight Express and wasn't he "Bluto" in Popeye? Jim, was Bolo Yeung a real martial artist or just a body builder? I read somewhere he was good friend...

Re: Older box is better

I don't have any preference of box types. I don't know why I think this but I do. Typically when Spyderco does something or makes changes there will be a reason for it. It could be something not real noticeable that will help identify fakes . Or not. I don't know.

Re: How many knives do you typically carry?

Around the house 1. Going out around town 1 or 2. Traveling will have 2 on me ( Endura one hand opening in pocket and one keychain for using in public or lending) as well as an extra folder and a fixed blade in my pioneer tools ( axe, shovel, towing strap, tire block, cable chains in winter in ice/s...

Re: Spyderco: What makes the brand so good?

Sal and Gail and Eric have built a very nice business with all the right ideas. Somewhere deep down it becomes obvious though that Sal ( I don't know Gail and Eric as well) is as big a performance, edge, and steel knut as the best ( worst?) of us are. The beginnings of the company were sharpening an...

Re: C95 Manix Sprint

Even old-timers like Yablanowitz migrated away from a C95 to carry something lighter. I moved mine to a belt pouch and was happy. At that point the discussion turns into a Manix 3. I'm more than happy to have that discussion, but this thread is about a C95 sprint. Same design as the original C95 in...

I'm in agreement with you guys. There are probably a lot of unknown animals in the ocean we aren't aware of including some we probably have written off as legends. It's the same with findings that don't fit the currently accepted version of events reference older civilizations and time lines. Once t...

Re: Why the lack of Elmax options -- are any on the horizon?

I've had a few Elmax knives and can't find anything special or different about it. It mostly became a high demand item because people were convinced that it was the toughest stainless steel available. That of course isn't true leaving it just another good stainless in the S30V/S35Vn up to M390 range...

Re: New Madrid Seismic Zone?

Science has changed a lot in our lifetime Jim(s). Back then in our childhoods the reason for the extinction of the dinosaurs was not known. I used to love reading about them as a kid and read and re read everything in our library several times over. The theory that had the most traction then was vol...

Re: C95 Manix Sprint

I'd be in from 1 to 3 depending on steel selected. I've always liked this knife and think some of the steels used since then would really bring out the best in it. 3V on up through Cruwear to 4V or even K390. Any of them would be great.

by Vivi » 07 Dec 2019 01:00 C95 Yeah. That would sure be nice. I'd select 3V, Cruwear or 4V in keeping with the toughness with performance theme. For all out performance K390 would be difficult to beat. I can get behind any. I'd buy at least 1 of any version selected ( even stainless) and if the ca...

Re: Earth is round and orbits the sun. FACTS.

The whole global warming thing is mostly about what they think will happen in the future because the temp has only gone up a little over a degree in the last hundred years ( we were still coming out of the little ice age in the 1800's ). The temp and sea level have advanced pretty consistently but s...
