Re: RE: FFG H1 Pacific Salt just grind it

The Endura I had Tom do for me is still 0.015" behind the edge bevel. I had him stop there because I use the knife for general utility and didn't trust ZDP-189 any thinner. H-1 is very tough and strong so it should be able to go down to 0.010" easily. I've seen pictures here of full flat regrinds of...

Re: Seconds Sale.

I'm only 435 miles away. The first time I felt buyer's remorse was when I spent almost $1200 at the sale. That vanished when I added up the MSRPs of my purchases and came up with over $3600.

Re: RE: FFG H1 Pacific Salt just grind it

It has been done. Tom Krein used to do them for reasonable prices. You need to alternate sides and cool frequently.

The advantage of seniority. I had this scheduled before my boss started. In fact, I have next year's sale weekend reserved already.

Re: Knife opened in my pocket.

I'm a little worried about carrying my Military in my right front pocket. Being tip down carry and the spine not against the seam of my pants like it normally is, I just hope I don't stick my hand in my pocket and when pulling my hand out, that the blade doesn't happen to be open a bit and gets me ...

Re: Seconds Sale.

Last year I had a G-10 Puukko second in my basket marked $110.00 with sheath. I thought it was a great deal until I walked by the clearance table and found a stack of them NIB for $100 each, with box and warranty. Guess which I bought. It is probably worth noting here that factory seconds are "As is...

Yes, it is. Limit of 25 pieces on seconds, no limit on first quality items, even on clearance. I'll be there

I like turkey, my girlfriend loves it, but it is one of her worst gout triggers, so we probably won't be having it this year.

Re: Military 2. What exactly is going on?

Yeah, it would amplify the very things I dislike most about the comp lock. I've been pinched and stung by that tab too many times already to be thrilled with the prospect of a bigger, more acceccible tab. I haven't had the pinch problem with my Shaman yet either, but I definitely did on my Para 3 L...

I have a Compression lock prototype.

sal
Pass. I've tried for years to like the compression lock but the "left-handed" Para2 is the only one I've found tolerable.

Re: Your "return ethics"?

My "return ethics" are simple: if it has a defect in material or workmanship that should be addressed under warranty, it goes back to the manufacturer. If it is not as advertised (fake/counterfeit, not the specified model or some such) it goes back to the seller to make right. Otherwise, it is mine ...

This is the knife in question:
White. In fact, I think the bucket actually says "Extra Boring White".

Don't know the answer, but given Sal's penchant for giving credit where credit is due, I'd be very surprised if Frank Centofante helped design the compression lock.
So would I. Like I said, the things I think about when I'm rolling paint.

C66 Vesuvius

The things I think about while I'm rolling paint  .

The Vesuvius was a Frank Centofante collaboration and the first compression lock folder. Did Frank have a hand in designing the lock, or did Sal just field test his lock design in Frank's knife design?

Re: The hawkbill learning experience

I have experience sharpening SE knives with the sharpmaker. The hawkbill shape may prove to be slightly more challenging, but I imagine I’ll pick it up quick. A word of advice: don't try to follow the curve. Those serrations are ground on a shaped wheel, and their centerlines are parallel. Set the ...
