Re: Damascus Chaparral

I voted "Maybe". 99% of the time I don't go in for Damascus blades. Significant increase in cost, with no increase in performance. Looks pretty, but then I am doubly nervous about using it due to the price & not wanting to mess up the precious. But they are tempting & nice to look at. Edit: Just rea...

Re: Anyone from or moved to Alaska?

Sister In-law & her husband lived there from 90? till about 6-7 years ago. Beautiful place (we visited in 98 when they both worked at Denali National Park), but not sure I could live there. Just some observations I made while visiting & from what my In-laws have said: The Bad Groceries/supplies are ...

Re: Zdp-189 myths and truths

2 experiences with it: Plain edge Spyderco I had I let it get dull - it was a pita to get sharp. Using my Spyderco ceramic stone it took a lot of time and patience to get back to shaving sharp. Someone wanted that knife more than me so I sold it. Fully serrated Delica I have chipped. Not bad, but it...

Re: Cars/Trucks

These days I have two daily drivers that get rotated as I get bored. One is this little toaster, an '05 Scion xB. I am thoroughly surprised at how decent this little car is. It's slow but peppy being a 5 speed, it gets 35mpg no matter how I drive it, and it's surprisingly roomy for how small it is....

Re: Which is the best?

Get the knife you want. If you don't have the money for the Para 3 LW - save up for it, then get it. Buying another knife at a lesser price will not get rid of wanting the knife you truly want. Then not only do you not have that knife, you're also out the money you spent on the other.

So is there actual CQI happening before the next Ikuchi release, or is it just speculation?

Very impressive series win by the Braves in Minnesota!
Saw an article in the local paper mentioning revenge for the World Series loss in '91. Part of me smiled, another part groaned - I was at Game 6 of the '91 World Series hoping to see the Braves win it.

Re: What Are You Driving / Have Driven?

Well as of today I upgraded my 2012 Kia Soul+ to a 2018 Kia Soul+ 1 Millionth special edition. Got a great deal, and it is basically new - sitting on the dealers lot with 35 miles. All the infotainment stuff is going to make me have to study the owner's manual.

Re: Cancer question.

4th stage melanoma here. If I'd not had surgery, radiation, and immunotherapy, I'd be dead. As one of the distant tumors was in my R lung I'd probably of died from that. Basically I'd of slowly asphyxiated due to diseased tissue & fluid build up. The effects on your body totally depend on the type o...

Re: Lil Chokwe

Please no comp/lock! Personally I'd prefer the Compression-lock over the Frame-lock of the original. The prototype I handled was outstanding. Just with how the prices have been getting higher I'd love to see this one at the lower end $100 range. Understand that where it's produced will dictate stee...

Re: Sal, may I ask: When will the Chap FRN be available again?

Made a road trip with my oldest son (inheritor of the knife-nut gene) to Knivesshipfree today. Checked out the Chaparral LW they had in and the clip placement looked a bit different when compared to a Chaparral Raffir they had. Sadly I could not leave with one, per the wife. Currently getting the ol...

Re: Lil Chokwe

Looking forward to it. I'd just prefer it not be S30V steel. CTS-XHP would be nice. I'd be fine with VG-10 if it kept the price down.

Date code on the box
So if they are dated this month then it would be one of the CQI versions correct?
