Re: Spyderco Knives with hard rubber handles?

Bussekin uses Resiprene-C, a very resilient & durable type of artificial rubber.
Maybe that could work on certain Spyderco models as well.

Re: Paramilitary and Military with thicker blade and Saber Grind: Yes or No?

Older Military models already had thicker blades compared to current ones.
Not a lot, but definitely measurable.

British Pathe

Most likely this website is already well known, but just in case it isn't: http://www.britishpathe.com/

Lots of old newsreel footage of almost anything you can think of, and highly enjoyable if you're a bit nostalgic like me,

Re: Sharpening CTS204P at low edge angles

Posted this on 12-18-2014 on Bladeforums: Spyderco Southard with CTS-204P blade, which has been in use for a few years now with a Dutch scout leader. It has already been sharpened several times by him on stones, plus two times by me on Paper Wheels (once up to 6 micron diamond compound, and once up ...

Re: Southard Rant

@curlyhairedboy: where did you buy that ceramic detent ball if i may ask ?
Someone i know has exactly this problem, as his detent ball is almost worn down flush with the titanium.
He very much loves his knife & the CTS-204P steel.

Never handled or tested an ERU sharpener (not available outside the US), but maker Fred Rowe is most certainly no dummy when i read what he writes on Bladeforums about knives & sharpening in general. This is his product: http://edgeru.com/ And here the review thread on Bladeforums: http://www.bladef...

Re: How Stainless is S110V?

Yes, it's all freehand work on the Paper Wheels.
Working with the Wheels isn't that difficult, most people i know of master the basics quite fast.

Re: How Stainless is S110V?

The factory edge on this (second) PM2 in S110V steel wasn't to my liking (again not truly sharp) so i used it as practice material. The new and ever so slightly convex edge was taken through 15, 6, 3, and finally 1 micron diamond compound on dedicated Paper Wheels. It will turn an average chest hair...

Re: Full hard M2 high speed steel knife

A follow-up took some time, but here it is. After some cutting tests with this M2 knife i arrived at a measured edge angle between 22.5 and 25 degrees inclusive, as this seems to be right at the balance point between as thin as possible, yet thick enough. This edge survives multiple full force cuts ...

Re: PM2 Elmax, M390, or s30v for max sharpness?

Yes, and in your case i would probably cut some pieces of MDF/hardwood to fit the stone carrier on your KME Sharpener, but freehand also works given enough practice.

Re: PM2 Elmax, M390, or s30v for max sharpness?

Every man has to have a hobby, and tinkering with various sharpening & polishing methods is mine (besides eating licorice) :D From where i stand i would say exchange that leather strop with green compound for a few pieces of MDF/hardwood and some fine CBN and/or diamond compounds, as the effect on y...
