Re: Spyderco Titanium BLADED knives?

Currently doing a review on Bladeforums and a few others on kitchen knives that use diamond particles in a titanium matrix. One of these already was tested by a professional Chef in a commercial kitchen. Google Diamond Titanium knives if you're interested. The knives are made by the same Japanese co...

Re: Cold Steel Black Bear machete handle mod

The Cold Steel Black Bear machete is something of a crossbreed between a short machete & a bowie knife, and imo because of the untapered fairly thick & rigid blade and the resulting overall weight this model is better suited for chopping branches and smaller trees than light brush or brambles. These...

Cold Steel Black Bear machete handle mod

Yesterday i gave this Black Bear machete a contoured handle with a "fuzzy finish". Next will be a resharpening of the factory edge. https://s31.postimg.cc/tcsjymtxz/GEDC1965.jpg https://s31.postimg.cc/fvvlfstx3/GEDC1967.jpg https://s31.postimg.cc/saidg3iuf/GEDC1970.jpg https://s31.postimg.cc/gleds5f...

Re: 5160 vs 1095?

Western Bowie made around 1965-1966, on which i contoured the rosewood handle and gave it a full convex zero edge by hand on 400 grit wet & dry and some WD40 oil as a lubricant. The steel is most likely 1095 Cro-Van, and it takes & holds a wonderful edge, noticeably better than standard 1095 steel. ...

Re: Ordered my first Sebenza

CRK's are very well made knives with (since about mid 2013 ) excellently hardened S35VN steel, but from experience i can tell you that there is quite a bit of room for improvement regarding the consistency & sharpness of their factory edges. I've seen their edge angles range from +/ 35 degrees inclu...

Also in the tweet the mayor talks about a ban on home deliveries of acid.
Wouldn't that be stigmatizing his own constituents ?

PM2 Maxamet & forced patina

The owner of this Maxamet PM2 had given his knife a forced patina treatment, and besides coming out a bit uneven the acid had also completely eaten away the factory apex as well as the very tip of the blade. To say that the knife was completely blunt would have been an understatement. The request wa...
