Re: Wooden Dragonfly kit

So I got the plastic Delica kit too. It stays together MUCH better with a tighter fit of pins to scales, while the blade and backlock are narrower than the back spacer so everything functions very well. Feels more like a working knife, where the wooden one would need a lot of model building attentio...

Re: Show us your roadie

What do you think about a roadie as a kids first knife? Or second... I already got my 6 year old a 4” santoku since she likes to help prep & cook!

I too was wondering about the pb washers... why would one want washers made of lead?

Re: Show us your roadie

I keep one clipped to the key ring of my purse as a just in case kind of thing. It's guaranteed to be safe and unobtrusive enough to take out and use no matter where I am. https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4617/39646973892_44855d17e6_c.jpg Holy smokes, that is a great picture for scale. I had no idea t...

Y’all keep talking this thing up and I’ll have to add it to my wishlist. Certainly does seem like the perfect companion for yard work.

Re: You may not like this...

I like it. My two favs. Sorta miss my old AFCK which had a round hole. But I like para 3 better! As to deep carry, my employee handbook talks about “common pocket knives” being OK, and bans lawful concealed weapons. 😡 And since we are likely at odds about what constitutes a “common pocketknife”, I’m...

I’d be tempted to call the bush a loss and “cultivate” the grape vines! The darned things really are relentless!

Re: What do you want to see more of from Spyderco?

I’d like to see coke bottle contouring of the handle scales as opposed to flat and thin. Something like the Bark River Gunny grip on a paramilitary 2 or para 3 would be awesome!

Re: FRN Scales

A version of FRN is what most power tool housings are made of. Very tough stuff. Not sexy, but darned effective. I think my favorite grip material is a roughed micarta, but for pure usability and stability in different use environments, FRN is probably best. Much like the much-maligned griptilian sc...

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??

That looks like the south end of a northbound elephant! My post was about the knife, but hey, I'm glad it could bring some good memories back to you... I volunteered for a week senior year of high school at the Lowry Park Zoo in Tampa. I scooped an awful lot of elephant poo. I got a better deal tha...

Re: Help me decide on a Salt

Dragonfly seems too small. I could see using one as a front pocket edc for use around “sensitive” types, with the main blade in my back pocket.

I know the eruption is on the big island. So yeah, some logistics and expense to get there.

Re: Help me decide on a Salt

I'd say Saver Salt, as the ergos are far better for me than the Delica style handle and wharnies really work well with serrations. It's also a model that for some reason doesn't get much love but it's a fantastic knife. Somehow I overlooked the choil on the saver salt. I have been waiting anxiously...

Nice! My yard’s just sandy clay (Quaternary or Tertiary sediment), I’d love to have some Devonian or Ordovician sediments to dig through!! Have you found any crinoid stems or cephalopods?
