Re: Please educate me on Flashlights

IMO the best EDC/general purpose 18650 flashlight on the market right now is the Lumintop FW3A. It has 2800 lumen turbo (with Cree cold white), runs Anduril, and is available in a range of anodized aluminum colors as well as Ti, Cu and SS bodies. The FW3A has a number of customization options, inclu...

Re: Knife request idea.

How about solid copper handles with no liners? Viruses and bacteria have the lowest survivability period on copper surfaces. SARS-CoV-2 surface survivability on copper is measured in hours instead of days. Not copper, rather brass, gold, silver. Brass efficacy is due to its copper content, but acts...

Re: Help identifying a Millie

It's a fake. The print and screws are definitely wrong. The jimping doesn't look right either, and the chamfering on the scales looks too deep. Are you sure? My CC numbered CF BG-42 Military has the same print, with the bolder font on the presentation side. I can't say that was unique to the CF BG-...

Robert...AUS-8 has only 5% Chromium content. That means it's not close to "stain resistant."
AUS-8 has 13-14.5% chromium.

Re: Talk to me about Ferro Rods

Here's another vote for Bic lighters. Ferro rods are fun to play with, but a Bic is extremely reliable under pretty much any condition. If it's too cold and it doesn't want to work, just warm it up in your hand or armpit. If it gets wet, just blow it out really good and strike it until it starts spa...

Re: Talk to me about Ferro Rods

Striking a ferro rod with the edge ruins the edge. In an emergency, if you don't have a knife with a 90 degree spine, the standard method is to reserve a small sacrificial section of the blade near the ricasso for ferro striking. I've also seen people strike a ferro rod with their spydie hole, altho...

Re: Manix 2 rex45

I am setup to receive notifications at multiple distributors and haven’t received anything. Have I missed these somehow?? AFAIK they've already dropped at BladeOps (Feb 20), Knifeworks (Feb 21) and St. Nick's (Feb 22). I missed the BladeOps drop entirely. Two of my friends scored one each from Knif...

Re: The Last Gun You Bought

HK UPS Custom Combat with Jet Funnel, fantastic pistol! HK pistols I'd buy today...... P2000sk V2 9mm. P30L V1 9mm. USP Expert 9mm w/Jet Funnel magwell. That USP Custom Combat is a nice gun. I have a standard USP45FS and a Tactical, and they're my favorite pistols behind the HK45. I've always thoug...

Rem 870 Express Tactical.
The 870 is by far my favorite shotgun platform. I've had this Marine Magnum for about 10 years, but the Mesa Urbino stock showed up in the mail today.

Re: The Last Gun You Bought

Very nice. Always wanted to try an HK. When I was in law enforcement, I always used Sig and my 1st cousin HK. We were both very loyal to our brands at the time, lol Thanks, your G17 is quite nice as well. I've always been partial to hammer fired versus striker, but one of my sons is going into law ...

Re: N690 vs N690Co on roadie

Why does spyderco add the Co if I may ask? From what I can find I don’t see it anywhere else other than N690. Only on my roadie do I see the “Co” added and was curious why this was since the makeup of the metal is the same. Spyderco is definitely not the only company using the N690Co designation. F...

If you're shopping for knives in the size and price range of the higher end Moras, you might want to take a look at the Ruike Jager F118... 14C28N steel, full tang construction with milled G10 scales and a good quality ABS sheath.

Re: If I was going to buy an ESEE 6...

For your price range, have a look at Work Tuff Gear. They're a fairly new Taiwan company, and they have a large catalog of full tang outdoor fixed blades. They use Bohler K110 (D2) and SK-85 with milled G10 handles, and their knives all include Kydex sheaths. They're probably the best bargain in qua...

I got a backspacer for one of my PM2's from shepardcc off Instagram. Bought it in a whim, and it is made out of CF. Really enjoying it so far

I would avoid buying from shepardcc / 2focused4eva. A Google search for 'shepardcc scam' will turn up the relevant information.

Re: Southpaw - Lefty Question

When I bought my first PM2, I decided I would adapt to the RH version instead of permanently handicapping my steel and color options. I have no problem operating a RH PM2 with my left hand, and I don't have to use any two-operation method like dropping the blade free with the choil stopping on my mi...
