I just checked all of my PM2s. Their distal tapers are symmetrical and slightly convex on both sides.

The pictures you included have factory digicam scales that have been Rit dyed to red. The DLT exclusives have solid red G10 from the factory. If you want one like in the photos you attached, get a standard S30V digicam model and a bottle of red Rit dye.

It appears to be a fake. The FRN molding is not crisp enough. This is especially easy to spot around the edge of the oval.

It's basically a clickbait form letter with the word Spyderco plugged into all of the <manufacturer> fields, mad libs style. It has nothing to do with Spyderco knives.

It's definitely a known factory variation. Whatever method they're using to do that engraving, it's being done in a repeatable fashion. He's not just using weasel language to vaguely mislead people. I've talked to him at length in person, and if his knives are anything other than 100% hand-forged or hand-built by him from raw blade stock and handle materials, then his intention is to overtly defraud customers.
