Re: Clear Manix 2 LW Vanax SuperClean sprint?

i understand the clear and translucent scales on the manix 2 lw were meant to show the inner workings. i've never really cared for the look though. i'd much rather be able to access the inner workings by being able to disassemble the knife.

Re: Spyderco email

i emailed them and called in the last week. they are behind in answering emails due to lower staffing because of covid. give them time and they'll respond. a call is usually faster though.

Re: DLT Trading: will we see a OD/TiCN Cruwear Endura?

Its been discussed, the Endura sells significantly slower than the Delica, which in turn sells significantly slower than the Manix 2/Para 2 class of exclusive knives. It makes it hard to give the green light to a batch of the quantity we usually order. Personally I'd love to see it, I really like t...

Re: Salt knives pivot lube ?

i've dropped some reel oil in my pac salt once or twice, but i don't think it's necessary at all. the blade is riding on the pivot and between plastic scales, so there's not really a need to oil it. i've had my pivot full of both fine and gritty sand and the knife still works just fine. there's some...

Re: Yojimbo vs PM2 durability

Thanks for the replies, sorry I was gone a bit. I grew up in Smyrna Ga. where Going Gear is but moved to Canton Ga. a few years ago when they built the new braves stadium....too much traffic! The yojimbo 2 seemed to fit my hand better and I had almost decided on it until someone recommended the Can...

i have too many knives. i have too many knives. i have too many knives. 😖 It's only $49. And it matches your user name. It's not even an option for you to not buy it. :) if it was coated and/or zome like the big brothers, i wouldn't be able to resist. as it is, i'll fight the urge to pick this one ...

Re: The Age Old Question .... E4 or D4

the handle of the delica isn't as comfortable to me and i'd prefer a longer reach with an upgraded steel, so i'd definitely go for the endura. the only reason i would ever consider the delica is for legal purposes, and even then, i'd probably go for a different model like the chaparral lw.

Re: How about a folding Whale Rescue? Aka a safety tipped Spyderhawk? Rescuehawk?

i always carry my pac salt in the ocean because it was the best compromise available with a slight sheepsfoot and still having a tip that can pierce. it was a compromise i had to decide to make. for any type of emergency though, the rounded non-tip on the assist or whale rescue is a far better choic...

Re: How about a folding Whale Rescue? Aka a safety tipped Spyderhawk? Rescuehawk?

i know it's not a hawkbill, but what about the assist salt? the "tip" of that knife is wider than a nickel and would work really well for this application. i'd consider it a much better rescue knife than anything else spyderco makes just because there is no tip at all.

Re: Anyone have and use a Mora Eldris?

i just got this little guy. i'll be trying it out as a neck knife. think what you will about the design, but i like that it's different from my belt knife and folders. instead of just being another knife, it augments what i typically carry and gives me more capability. https://i.postimg.cc/Kv6z1KCR/...

Re: Yojimbo vs PM2 durability

i don't have a pm2. i've handled them, but never used one. i do have a yojimbo and it's amazing. it was purpose built for self defense and the weight of the blade makes for really satisfying action with the compression lock. the wharncliffe blade makes it a great utility knife too. have you seen the...

the manix is a challenge, but not really too bad. imo, the hardest part is dealing with the lanyard tubes.

Re: The Manix 2 lw is pretty good

it's seriously the best non-salt knife that spyderco makes. but the pins!!!!! those pins are the thorn in the side of the m2lw that keep it from being perfect. Ha! I hear ya. I sold off my Manix LWs in my last purge and refuse to buy another until they move to screw construction. Hoping by the time...

Re: Hope for a Chaparral with upgraded steel?

i love xhp and originally scoffed at the title of this thread, but i like salts even more. taichung already has lc200n... a lw chaparral salt would easily replace my df2 salt as my favorite small knife (aside from a ladybug of course).
