Taking inflation into account it is not really worth much more now. $46.95

http://www.in2013dollars.com/1994-dolla ... ount=45.95

What someone is willing to pay.... Ah now that is a different story...

That shows it would be $78.15, nearly double.

Re: Something I do not understand about the Chaparral

Is this some troll fad that everyone jumped on so they could sound up to date with the latest views? I think some of the views in the knife community are definitely fads, especially when it comes to YouTube reviewers. Things are very exaggerated. Every little bump is now a "hot spot". Every knife t...

Re: Crazy deals @ Sierra and other places

It may have been only in my store. They changed from hanging peg knives to boxed ones under a display case where you can try them. It seems the were clearing out all the hanging knives. Individual Walmart stores sometimes run great sales that aren't posted online. Their cheap Ozark Trail knives are...

Re: Selling your once grail knife

I bought my first Spyderco in 1988. I had no idea that I was giving up my constitutional rights of freedom of speech to a company like Chris Reeve when I was still in high school. But I guess this is all about the money. You're not giving up your free speech. The 1st Amendment says that the US gove...

Re: How different is your daily carry knife w/ gloves on?

To me, larger knives with heft are the best with gloves. The smaller and lightweight knives almost bounce around in my hand. Contrary to all the popular YouTube reviewers, shaving ounces isn't all it's cracked up to be.

The one for $103 looks legit, at least the picture they are showing. Post a pic when you get it.

Amazon uses the same stock photos everyone else uses. Those can't be used to tell if it's a fake.

Re: Why all the hoopla over REX45?

I don’t think it’s fair to compare mule team blade sales to folders. Take a specific type of person to go in for a fixed blade for which you either need to buy or make scales. And the military/pm2/p3 series seems hot hot hot right now. You're missing that Cruwear was also made in a Mule and it didn...

Re: Why all the hoopla over REX45?

Rex45 is a much cooler name than Hap40. There's a lot of truth to this. Everyone seems to love Crucible's Cruwear (cool name), yet the nearly identical Carpenter's PD#1 still lingers in unsold Mule Team knives and almost nobody talks about it. Two very similar steels made by two different companies...

Re: Sal asks you to design a Spyderco.

Best knife I think would be taking the PM2, making the G10 rounded (like the Shaman), eliminating the finger choil, and shifting the handle grip forward towards the blade so you're at the edge with a regular grip on the handle without "choking up". Come to think of it.... it would essentially be lik...

Agree. To them it's a knife.

Yea some people don't change from that line of thinking. It's viewed as a simple tool, no different from a screwdriver or a wrench. Would you pay more than $20 for a screwdriver? That was my logic back then, anyway.

Re: How to get more women/females into Spyderco?

Heck, even MOST of the gun guys I have known over the years aren't knife guys, they will drop thousands of dollars on a gun, but won't spend more than $20 on a knife.. ;) I used to be like that. A rough action on a cheap knife just doesn't bother the average user as much as we think it does here. P...

Re: China and tariffs

Well, here's the breaking news on the tariff situation: There is now a 90-day halt on imposing these new 25% tariffs. The existing tariffs will stay at 10%. That is contingent on China making reforms to stop their "intellectual property theft, non-tariff barriers and cyber theft". So we have a few m...

That's interesting, they're hiring for $21 an hour in my area or picker/packers.

I worked for them about 5 years ago in PA. Pay was $11 for a picker/stower

I think an increase in the China line tarriffs/prices may lead to an increase in Golden, CO line sales. Might be wishful thinking, though.

Re: Kapara vs. PM2 - Box cutting.

My guess is that you used the choil on the PM2, right? Thereby being closer to the blade tip and having much better leverage.

But yea... longer, lighter, thinner blades don't make the best utility knives. No matter how sharp they are. I prefer them to be more stout.

Where did that information come from ?

When is it likely ?

Price is $32 and has been on pre-sale on all the online stores for awhile. It was part of their mid-year release catalog. Steel will be 8cr13mov and made in China. Nobody really knows when we'll see it arrive.
