Re: Unpopular opinions

Seems like just an honest mistake to me I meant it as more of an industry-wide trend. Some blades with a clear, defined swooping belly are now being grouped into wharncliffes because wharncliffes became popular and everyone wants to hop on the hype train. It used to be a very specific blade shape. ...

Apparently this is unpopular these days... This is a wharncliffe. https://i.imgur.com/5qgunFW.jpg This is not (Cough...BladeHQ....cough...) https://i.imgur.com/A3iT3Vb.jpg Since when did the definition of wharncliffe change? Why would new molds and lock designs be needed? They already exist.
The original post said "Fish-Scale Pattern". That would need a new mold.

Re: SE Polestar?

Working with China to put a comp lock on the Polestar would be an instant success I think. The handle is perfect, but the liner lock just makes it blend into the crowd at an increased price. As it stands, it's a very utilitarian piece that works well. But I know many think it is bland and with mater...

The whole angle on discovering what a metal is might just be a spin to give broader appeal to a pretty specific experiment.
A spin to get a piece of that juicy government grant money funneled to the school, which funded this study.

My point is that your point obscured this thread,
he replied to "Corrosion resistance is the last thing that matters in the kitchen". Trinity essentially replied with "it does matter." I personally don't think it obscured anything to challenge such a bold statement.

The PM2 has a thinner handle than the Shaman. BladeHQ lists the PM2 as 0.46" and the Shaman as 0.53"

What happened to the Bow River Boltaron sheaths?

They used to be available direct from Spyderco's site for a great price, but I don't see them listed at all anymore. No other place seems to sell them. Did they get discontinued?

Re: Shaman in S110V

Another great new steel I'd like to see Spyderco use on the Manix 2 PM2 Para 3 and the Shaman would be M398 which is supposed to be an improved version of M390 whith even more wear resistance. https://knifesteelnerds.com/2019/05/06/bohler-m398/ "it is apparent that the design of M398 is all about w...

Re: First Impressions of SPY27 Steel

Delica is related to Seki, so if they push production prices up (which is a yearly standard by 1-5% in my industry), so will Spyderco. Alright we'll keep this to US models. Have they ever lowered a price on anything American made just because "R&D has been paid off"? I think pushing people to buy i...

Re: Different Serration Patterns on Wharncliffe Delica4 LW - (C11FSWCBK)

Apparently over time serration patterns will change as the wheel wears, so over the course of X amount of knives being ground, the first and last knives from a batch may have differences in the pattern from grinding stone wear. I think it just goes from very crisp serrations to more blunted serrati...

Re: First Impressions of SPY27 Steel

Has there ever been an instance when they've lowered a price on something? I mean, if we were to apply that same logic to other things... the Delica must have R&D expenses and mold expenses paid off by now, but the price keeps going up. I don't see the cost of SPY27 models getting lowered. Just wish...

Re: First Impressions of SPY27 Steel

Certainly we're seeing some of the R&D costs in the current pricing with the spy27 para3 lw at $140, compared to say, the rex45 version at $122.50. I'm definitely curious to see where the prices go from here. But what makes it confusing is that while the Para 3 is up $42 from using SPY27, the Mule ...

Re: Caribbean at last

Which models would those be? I am not aware of any... The PM2, Para 3, and I think the Shaman, which I assumed were the US comp locks he was referrencing dropping shut. Now that I think about it, it may be called a pivot "collar". But either way, that's what differentiates their fall shut action fr...
