Re: What would you like to see next from Byrd?

Compression locks? Maybe that’s a little crazy. Sal has said the compression lock is difficult to make properly in mass production. They already tried making a budget compression lock with the Spyderco Rhino. From what I recall, it was initially being made in either the Taiwan or China facility and...

Is it hardened LC200N? If so, how long until someone takes it out of the glass, sharpens it, and uses it in their Lil Native? :D

Agreed on all except the liner lock. I’d rather see a comp lock with a button release.
I don't think that's possible. There's no room to put the button lock in without drastically changing the blade shape. There's a reason the Smock has a large cutout in the blade.

Re: Bombshell Flash Batch

I am sorry but it looks like some Böker or CRKT jobbie to me. Doesn't tickle anywhere at all. I wasn't going to say it, but since you did.... the first thing that came to my mind was if you take away the hole and add a thumb stud, it could be a CRKT. :D I like it, though. It's nice to see some beef...

IMO all Sprints need to be sold though the Spyderco Store....
I don't think that will ever happen, especially after the latest increase in MAP which does nothing but shovel a higher percentage of sales dollars to distributors. I don't think they'll cut out distributor profits on sprints.

Harrier FRN has some contouring.

Look just before the finger guard. We got some contouring on the FRN Harrier instead of the edges all being blocky. I like this direction! I assume we won't see it changed on the others because it's expensive to change the molds. But this is awesome.

Re: CPM SPY27 steel

I'll put my tin foil hat on. Since there have been some people not buying new models because they're tired of s30v ("not s30v again..."), could this be Spyderco essentially re-branding s30v/s35vn with a slight tweak and new name to get those buyers back? Will this be the new stand-in for s30v? From ...

Honestly, I don't even know what the Spydie-flick is. I've been following MJ for years and I can't get a visual about how the middle finger ever comes into play.

Start watching at 4:50.

When I took a pic of the Bow River for a calendar submission, I took a few more with different lighting. This is one of the alternates I didn't like enough to submit.

I got it today, too. Even though my submission didn't meet the minimum requirements for resolution & pixel size to be considered (need to upgrade my camera), thanks for still sending a calendar! That's awesome.

Re: Design details that are deal breakers

I absolutely LOVE a 50/50 choil. I love how it really helps ME lock in my grip and being choked up also helps with being precise with my cuts. Like Evil D said, you can get that choked up grip with a design like the Lil Temp or Caribbean without any choil at all and without sacrificing edge length....

Re: Opinions on the combo edge

In previous threads about this, the lack of popularity might be because of the stigma that surrounds it. Tons of cheap gas station folders with terrible steel makes use of the combo edge grind. For me, the combo edge was necessary when I worked on a farm. But now that I stopped working there I don't...

Re: Spyderco Custom Shop

I think it would really hurt the exclusives and sprints. Would people flock to (and sell out in minutes) the next Blade HQ sprint with M4 and jade when people know they can just buy the same knife in M4 with any other scale color directly from Spyderco? It would tank that market. But the benefit is ...

Well ....if you have to ask.....look at the quotes...it is barely veiled racism. Nobody was racist. You clearly only saw what you wanted to see and that says more about you than them. Bullying people into erasing and censoring history is something that terrible regimes are known for doing and is a ...

This made me curious: what makes the Bow River so cheap to make if it's not the materials? Could a similar process be applied to a knife that would still functionally and visually be a Southfork?
China and their devalued currency. It makes labor cheap.

Re: Change in price of Spydercos in 2020?

I just got home from taking myself, two teenagers, and two kids to the movies. With popcorn, a couple hot dogs, and two bottles of water, this 2-hour outing cost me $90! Kinda put an $84 Delica into perspective for me. But I think we can agree that the food and beverages at a theater are very overp...

Similarly for the Delica (C11PBK):

Year: MSRP, MAP
2017: 114.95, 68.97
2018: 114.95, 74.72
2019: 120.00, 78.00
2020: 120.00, 84.00
$15 in 4 years. So in 2024, say hello to $100 Delica?
