Re: Pm2 vs Manix 2

I’m a Manix 2 person. At least today. I do carry my Manixes more than my PM2’s and I like the lock and the blade shape better on the Manix. I like both of these more than most of the rest of the knives on the market.

Re: New Metal/Alloy and other technology news for you all.

I hadn’t thought of that but it’s the audit trail for stuff your going to fly that adds a lot of that cost. Every bolt, nut, screw and any other part gets tracked from production to installation in an airplane or orbital vehicle. I wouldn’t buy a $1,000.00 knife from an aerospace company, or an airp...

So cool! Did you have to combine 2 knives or did you buy the CF scales?

Sure they could. Should they though? I think focus is a hallmark of successful companies. Why add knives to aerospace and lose focus?

Re: David Boye Cobalt Knives: any thoughts?

Hey guys, I posted elsewhere in the Off topic section about David Boye knives and I am a proud owner of the pointed blade folder ( a factory second) which I got a pretty good deal on. Around $132.00 when the Boye knives website had a sale. The knife is well made, finish is not quite as good as Golde...

Re: David Boye Cobalt sharpening.

Thanks for the reply. I bought it for EDC and I carried it for a week or so then changed it out. It will be in my rotation for a while and get carried every 3rd or 4th week. It doesn’t feel sharp when I test the edge with my thumb but it cuts clamshell packages very well, opens and breaks down cardb...

Re: More on new Spyderco Light Weights: Let's discuss!

Do you think these lightweights will be pinned like the Manix? Personally I’m more interested in FRCP than FRN. A Caly or a Sage would be the models for me.

Re: My choice: I went with the Salt 2 Wharncliffe.

I just did a little online research and read that work hardening is due to plastic deformation of the crystalline lattices in the steel. This is happening at the microscopic level where the tool grinding the serration contacts the steel. There can be a difference in a given blade of RC of 60’s in th...

Love it, I would buy something with the transparent FRCP or FRN. Prefer something other than a back lock.

Re: Sal, what are the chances for another DS93X Thor blade spydie?

Damasteel any pattern on something size wise between the Chaparral and Sage with a premium handle material. Carbon fiber, Wood, Bone, Titanium, not G10 or CF G10 laminate or any plastic. Premium steel and price wouldn’t jive with lesser handle material. Lil Native would be a good model for this.

P3? What size knife? You could use the chooser tool on their website to narrow the choices.

Re: Wire clip just not for me

I like the wire clip for lighter knives. The longest knife I have a wire clip on is a Positron and it works well on that model. The standard clip is the one that catches on things and is more bothersome for me especially the one on the Military for some reason. I have tried 2 kinds of deep carry cli...

David Boye Cobalt sharpening.

Hi folks! Just bought a David Boye knife. He’s the inventor of the Boye dent we all know from some Spyderco knives. He makes and sells knives made with a Cobalt alloy similar to Talonite. His knives are cast using the lost wax method. He recommends using a medium Arkansas stone for sharpening. I won...

Re: Carabiner clip

I like both ideas! The clip placement and the backspacer one. I would buy clips for some of my Spydies and would strongly consider a knife made with the backspace clip. The Polestar or Alcyone would work well for that I think.

I keep them. No good reason. I guess I’m crazy too. I never sell mine, I was thrilled when I bought one second hand from New Graham knives recently and it came in the original box.

Re: Cleaning & Maintenance of Spyderco Ceramic Sharpening Stones?

What solutions do you use? I have tried running them through the dishwasher (ceramic stones) but it doesn’t seem to clean as well as scrubbing with BKF or Comet or generic paste scrub stuff.
