Re: The Year Of Our Lord 1969

I have no doubt that the quality of concerts put on by rock bands of the 60s and 70s has deteriorated but that could also be due to the performers being several decades older and deteriorating themselves. The technology of live performances hasn’t deteriorated but the quality of people doing 60s mus...

Re: The Year Of Our Lord 1969

The idea of older music is just better because of some vague idea of authenticity is silly, it’s the no true Scotsman argument.
Plenty of artists made crap then as they do now-
There are plenty of artists putting out fantastic content but the way it is delivered and consumed is very different.

Re: The Year Of Our Lord 1969

Even though I was only 6 in 1969, by that age I was already up on the current pop music. My older brother and sister always had the radio on, and both had record collections. I'm glad I came up during the musical era of the '60s, '70s and '80s, as it was happening. The good stuff from back then sti...

Re: The Year Of Our Lord 1969

In 69 I was still 20 years from gracing this world-
That fact alone says it can’t have been that good however the second Bowie self titled album (aka space oddity) came out that year so thanks for that.

Re: Interesting knife: "The Disciple".

Looks very impractical.
It may be great but it looks just that bit weird and aggressive- for utility/self defence it looks heavily focused on the latter.
The spiel dosnt read particularly well in my opinion either.

Very nice. Titanium frame lock flipper next, please.
Given the time involved... I’ll just buy a Kizer lol although I could pattern new blades from inferior steel, you know, cause life is just too easy.

Re: New Scifi: THE ORVILLE: Explores many of the concepts we discuss on here!

The Orville is very funny and more edgy than Star Trek, but still no seat belts. That's the great thing about science fiction. It allows viewing social and philosophical problems from the fresh perspectives of alien cultures and vice versa. They do have seat belts.. on landing crafts, they make a j...

https://i.imgur.com/NwLh8NFl.jpg I recently got to visit my local cutlers and made myself a knife, with substantial help. It’s a 1075 drop point skinner type thing- I have to say it’s a ton of fun this knife making Wow!! Looks great. My wife and I are gathering the equipment to make custom scales f...

Re: I made a knife

Very nice Dave! That grind looks nice and thin. What size stock did you use? It’s 3.5mm stock and the grinch as done totally by hand- no guides-just a belt grinder. Given that the forge is like 15min from my house I may actually take this up as a hobby, it’s not often you get access to an opperatio...

These arnt new concepts but rather old sci-fi tropes, the Orville just presents them in light self contained episodes, like Star Trek once did.

Best song lyrics

My current personal favourite:
“Andy walking, Andy tired
Andy take a little snooze
Tie him up when he's fast asleep
Send him on a pleasant cruise”

Re: How do you put a Stretch 2 back together?

Put the handle togeather and leave the pivot out.
I have found it easiest to put one washer in,put the blade in then push the other washer in using a business card.

I personally prefer a different method but I can’t adequately explain.

Re: At what point does a collection become clutter...???

A collection brings you enjoyment, clutter is a source of stress- I think it’s the mindframe of the owner that’s more of an issue. What if it brings you enjoyment but also stress over misplacing them all the time? Why, you lash them to your belt sir. You must not have seen this. This about half of ...
