Manix II lock modification.

OK I made this modification - groove around lock holes and it works very well. Now I can unlock it with one finger - thumb or index!

Please have a look how it works on video:

Thanks, Vassili.

Thanks Paul, I knew I could count on your support. :D But seriously, don't you think most of this "testing" is done anyway?? I'm sure an intern could whip it into something functional in a day or two. Not really - testing is not done anyway. It is very few companies doing testing (Spyderco, Buck an...

This question I was asking starting from 2003. Nobody will tell you - this is sensitive info in knife business and this is why no Spyderco nether Buck no one disclose CATRA test results - even they do tests for different steels and blade geometries. More then this if you try to test it yourself - yo...

Do you use your thumb nail on the forward edge of the cage or the pad of a thumb/finger placed on the cage itself (against the grooves)? I use the former method. Many people seem to not like using a finger/thumb nail in this way to disengage a lock but it doesn't seem to bother me at all. I unlock ...

I can not unlock this lock with one finger. I oiled it - did not work. I disassemble it and oil. Does not work, and thinking about this construction I suspect it is not meant to be open by one finger putting pressure from one side only.

Am I missing something?

Thanks, Vassili.

Hi nozh2002 Your pics are great. What camera and lens did you use? Lighting? Thanks Rod I have three light sources - usual set up for knives. One lighting handle side, another straight to blade point which high light background around blade and soften shadows fro first one. Third light (on the came...

Please explain why should I explain anything to you?

It seems like "loyal customers" like to make it ugly. Go ahead. I saw this many times before, but for Spyderco first time.

Thanks, Vassili.

I went back to the original BF thread and looked at this pictures posted there. I'd looked at them before but wanted to refresh my memory. If you all haven't done that, you should. In my opinion, the OP has, shall we say it charitably, very unrealistic standards for a production knife at this price...

Here are my Walkers (again) Best sub 3" $100.00 knifes I own. I'm not just talking Spyderco either. CF, ZDP, super thin grind. Smooth, Light, Great feel, No complaints. Zippo, Zero, Nada. IMHO this is a new classic. The one they now have to beat, and others will be judged against. Are the grinds pe...

We regret that we will not be able to ship any additional MT04P, ZDP-189 Mules. Our research indicates that the problem goes beyond the heat treat. We are unable to re-temper the knives as we had originally thought. They are not repairable and we will not be shipping any additional pieces. We’ve do...

Interesting process, but I don't know if I'd use leather. First off, the edges of his knives look all ragged, as you can't really get the leather smooth once it's been sanded. Second, if it's going to be a user, the leather is going to soak up dirt and sweat, making it grimy and smelly. Washing it ...

I have enough knives to say that broken tip is not common accident. Also I am participating in several knife forums here and in Russia for about two years and I remember only one other accident reported - Ganting. For myself - I have only one less then 1mm tip broken on Custom Buck 110 with BG-42 - ...

Do you mean that warranty does not cover this because they consider this as a throwing? Well then it should be warning somwhere - "Handle with care". Usually you do not expect this from the knife blade, it is not fine china or glass this is steel (am I right?)! On my opinion steel was overhardened a...
