Re: yet another "price increase"

Times are harder and more competitive than they were. But when times were better and pay increases flowed more freely each year, if the OP is old enough tom remember I bet they didn't complain then about either the pay increase or price increases. This follows on from Sal's thread on price increases...

I looked over at blade forums but they want a $30 subscription to be able to trade. Not for me. Ooh well.
I purchased the $10 and found some good knives at good prices and ended up buying the $30 membership.

Well worth it and none of the bidding hassle of ebay.

I hope he stays away from Spyderco and doesn't find out they exist otherwise production will be delayed.

Re: The Dodo 2019

I agree.

It seems "we" put so many demands on Spyderco, changing what was and is a winning combo might hold things up
when if all they need is to go back in production, let it be done.

Then while everyone is playing with their new toy, Spyderco can design another lock type DoDo.

Re: Which Spyder For Mr. Elon Musk?

Most of the "brilliant" wealthy techie people in my neck of the woods (whom all have bodyguards no doubt) aren't exactly fond of individual rights. Many of these nobles have given to anti-gun and other anti-freedom organizations. And supported initiatives with huge money contributions that are asin...

Re: The Dodo 2019

I purchased a Stainless steel cricket SE just to give one a go (not a fan of stainless steel handles bit it was cheap).

This was a stop gap until a new DoDo is released or I find a reasonably priced used DoDo.

What's your Endura made of ?

Mine is in Aus-8, never a corrosion problem.

Re: Thick vs Thin Blades? How They Effect Performance on Spyderedge and PE

No, I haven't and probably won't, only because I think a hawkbill is a limiting shape blade and another SE blade (in my case Endura but plenty of others) will not only do the job but also allow you do do other things with the knife. But I know where you are coming from and yes, as a tool in your poc...

Re: Thick vs Thin Blades? How They Effect Performance on Spyderedge and PE

I use an Endura to cut those boxes up - but I always cut along a bend or corner - and it works well / ok.

As you say, trying to cut then up is hard.

I've held off from buying the Caribbean because of the handle.

I need to see / feel it in the hand.

Re: How different is your daily carry knife w/ gloves on?

My Endura 1 was really good to use with Nomex flying gloves (which isn't surprising as the leather in thin on the front
and the nomex thin all over. It was also good/easy to use with thicker leather gloves used when rapeling/roping (which
is what I originally purchased it for).

So really good.

Re: I wish spyderco offered deep carry clips

It seems there would be enough interest for a an alternate deep carry clip made by Spyderco, say in stainless steel, and sold for under $10 to make it worth it for Spyderco to do . Also, I bet there still would be as much, or nearly as much, interest in the $23+ titanium clips offered by aftermarke...

Re: Spyderco Caribbean LC200N SE V.S. H1 SE

Buy a few knuckle / femur bones from the supermarket and a couple of back bones.

Drag the knives over these a set number of times to "dull" the edge (if it's possible).

Re: Spyderco Caribbean LC200N SE V.S. H1 SE

Well the wild card is H1 and work hardening. If edge retention is so good because if work hardening, does LC benefit the same? I suspect LC/SE will hold an edge longer than in PE just because that's typical of SE (in my experience) but how it compares to H1/SE is the real question. We know PE vs PE...

No Animal hair, sorry not a hunter. The rest is okay. What diameter of Manila rope? What qualifies as dirty? Please provide a link to a good not too terribly expensive scale will purchase. Drag it through a puddle, mix some dirt in a bucket and dunk the rope in it, then wash it/most of the mud off....

Re: Spyderco Caribbean LC200N SE V.S. H1 SE

Side of pork or meat but must have tough skin like a pig - hair off

Dead animal with fur on it (and the usual dirt/grit/mud ingrained) and slice it 1 cm apart
and see what effect it has on the blade - if you can tell. Need something like paper or
soft to test afterwards.

Will think of others.
