Re: Buying my first PM2: S30V or S110V?

I thought k390 and cpm 10v were very similar/interchangeable?

Guess I'll have to wait for more 10v... The K2 was a steal at blow out prices ($150!), but way too big for me

Re: Which Spyderco stainless is least prone to accidental edge damage?

So, a lot of times at work, I've encountered situations where something has to be cut off of something metal - like thick shrink wrap over wire rope, or a plastic cap over a pipe - will any knife steel survive that unscathed, or just use your beater 8cr knife/Stanley box cutter and sharpen out the d...

Re: Plastic Knives are BEST.

A lot of people who like liners and g10 know that frn is pretty strong, but simply prefer the feel of the heft and the stuff g10

Nice to have both

Now - SS handles are the really unpopular ones

Re: Unpopular opinions

Utility blades are super soft, but sharpen up quickly - also proof that geometry cuts, a dullish blade still goes through cardboard pretty well I hate that most utility knives have such little blade exposure - the utilizer has good exposure but expensive, and utility knives are true beaters - got to...

here we go I finally thought of a few. --- Knives are meant to be USED. Making most sprints useless. If I can't get my knife repaired or replaced if something breaks then it's not useful. Re: Unpopular opinions

There are too many Sprint safe queens - it's like guys who buy a Corvette and washes it every week, but doesn't put more than 1000 miles a year on it. We should have non Sprint knives in tool steel more often - for those of us who don't care about the handle color, or the exclusivity, it'd be nice t...

Re: Unpopular opinions

I wish Byrd and the Tenacious were finished as nicely as Ruikes, etc Most users are fine with steels like 8cr Most pocket knives are used more like knife shaped pry bars and scrapers than for pure cutting (at least in construction) - for every time one has to cut rope, open a package, there's a need...

Re: Best steels for serrations?

Will H1 or VG10 resharpen from dull using Spyderco medium sharpmaker rods alone? Will the serrations chew up the diamond/cbn rods faster? I remember trying to sharpen a full endura for a long time, and while sharper than before, was not factory sharp on Spyderco medium rods.

What, you don't just listen to your friendly instagram knife influencer with the drawer full of shiny, unused knives? There's this car enthusiast related podcast (Carmudgeon) where the two hosts were talking about how people generally need to do something for an x amount of time to really know how t...

Re: Large slipjoint Spydie, anyone?

I grew up using nail-breaker ex-army jacknives and an ancient bone handled, black bladed pocket knife from my grandfathers shed, sharpened to a wavey slither. Victorinox/Wenger were waaay too pricey for kids, except for those dreadful knock-offs which put me off SAK’s for years. Used victorinoxes c...
