Re: Will we ever get a FFG hawkbill?

I'd be in! https://forum.spyderco.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=86113&p=1404064&hilit=...a+FFG+hawkbill#p1404064 Sorry Connor, I didn't catch this thread but I'd love to have M4 or K390 SE if they could do it. Would you still prefer plain edge even if the edge retention was higher with the super steels? ...

Re: Will we ever get a FFG hawkbill?

Just look at all the other Hawkbill models and compare how many units have sold in PE versus SE. It's not even remotely close. I'm sure it's probably 85% SE to 15% PE>> and that's a conservative estimate. Most Spyderco Hawkbills are only available in H-1, which has pretty poor PE edge holding. Mayb...

As a custodian, I stay away from retractable tethers. Nothing like dropping your keys, only to have them zip back and hit you between the legs. I can’t even imagine if I dropped an open knife
Ha ha! Never thought of that! :D

Re: Spyderco Lock Type Preference

I strongly prefer a good liner lock because of ease of 1-hand opening, and least likely to drop while 1-hand closing. This is most important to me when a drop would result in it gone forever, or damage to something below. Distant second is mid back lock. Frame locks not considered because of metal ...

Re: Spyderco Lock Type Preference

I prefer the CBBL because it retains the best qualities of the backlock (no detent, ambidextrous, close bias) while being even smoother than the backlock, plus easier to close quickly with one hand. My reason for picking the compression lock last is simply that I don't really like the tactile experi...

Re: Spyderco Lock Type Preference

My favorite is the Caged Ball Bearing lock.

After that I think I'd prefer a well-made backlock, R.I.L., or linerlock over the compression lock.

Happy Birthday Eric Glesser!

Well I didn't even think Eric was a member here, but it looks like I'm wrong. :D He hasn't been active for the past few years but today is his birthday. I wish we heard more from him, but I understand that he's probably extremely busy with the company. He has certainly inherited his father's skill a...

Re: Spyderco Face Mask (now bandana, hat and patch)

Buff offers a fairly accessible custom program for customers already, so I'm sure they would be more than happy to work with Spyderco. They can be used in so many ways. https://backwoodsgearreview.files.wordpress.com/2017/08/36bf8-howtowear.png None the less, I'll still be buying a handful of the n...
