Re: Updated shaman sprint steel poll
The stonewash finish gets two thumbs up from me, keeps the blade looking nicer if used at work everyday. I've been itching to get a Shaman for a long time, I think either steel would get a buy from me. Also, I believe Rutger makes a good case for stuff like 20CV and 204p for smaller edc and thinner ...

Re: Spyderco Reinhold Rhino Giveaway!!!
I'm in! My maternal grandmother was definitely one of my heroes, that woman raised five children pretty much on her own, all while working hard to put food on the table during a time when being able to afford said food was a huge challenge. She never learned how to read, but was a very intelligent w...

Re: Finally got a sharpening system
Another happy KME owner here. I felt the WE was too much to spend, and offers really just one feature over the KME - the ability to sharpen both sides simultaneously. While i am lazy, i am not THAT lazy, i don't relly mind flipping the knife over manually. IMO the Lansky is too rickety-rackety for ...

Re: Burnt Orange Rex 45
Actually, I broke the VERY TIP (2 sharpenings would fully repair it) of my Cruwear pm2 off, just casually/gently cutting bondo away from a steel body panel on a car when the tip came in contact with steel. And that's cruwear. I know you'll most likely assume I did something much more abusive than d...

Re: Burnt Orange Rex 45
Nah, I treat my blades with respect, the only time I've had something bad happen to me chip-wise was when I dropped my Rat 1 in D2 on a concrete floor at work, got a nasty chip near the tip. I have an Opinel that I lend to coleagues at work, super sharp, 5 minutes later they have already dulled it,...

Re: Burnt Orange Rex 45
Anyone with the knowledge for making comparisons between this and S35VN? (I guess not this specifically but using Hap40 as an example) This metal is a bit of an unknown for me. Mostly interested in wear resistance and toughness info. REX 45 should cut longer, take a crisper edge better. Hold a poli...

Shaman in Cruwear or any of the M390 "family" steels.
I will buy whichever of those comes first.
So... Hurry up with it, will ya Sal?

Re: What do you want to see more of from Spyderco?
Since this turned into a wishlist of sorts, I need to ask for a Shaman in M390 flavor. Also, some quality of life improvements on the choil part of the blade that hits your finger as it falls shut from disengaging the lock. But yeah, M390 Shaman above everything, or maybe even Cru-Wear. Do we have a...

Re: What do you want to see more of from Spyderco?
Another run of the Para 3 in Cru-Wear or CST-XHP. Other than that, lower prices :D As for new products, I would love to see Spyderco's take on a new guided sharpening system. As nice as the Sharpmaker is, we all know that it's certainly not a reprofiling wonder. Modern steels from Spyderco keep gett...

http://i.imgur.com/QbCXJDm.jpg With wise men company signet rings. You must be a mind reader, because that is exactly what I was planning for my work-only Para 3. If it's not too much of a bother, could you give me exact measures of it with the ring installed, both open and closed? I'm trying to fi...

Re: Native 5 Switches from S35VN to S30V
I think that one of the advantages this change gives to Spyderco is making certain sprint runs in that steel more desirable. From my point of view, when I think of future releases like the brown Para 3 in S35VN, they always feel a bit redundant to me. Having a perfectly good platform for S35VN in th...

All of this Cru-Wear praise just makes me feel more disappointed that I didn't get the Para 3 Sprint before it vanished... Sal, throw us a bone here, is there any chance we will see another Cru-Wear run for that model?

Re: Which knife S110V
Para 3 is more fun for sure, but who cares If a workhorse is flickable or not anyway. In most of the time it just sits in our pocket, right? I care about fun! :p Seriously though, and this is my opinion of course, but I do feel like that's a point of interest when getting a knife, even a "for ...

Re: First knife S110v - help me not screw it up.
Since we're on the topic of sharpening, I have a general question that haven't seen discussed that often: How do you know when you must to do a reprofile? Sure, the bevel gets wider with time, but are there other "tells"? Maybe some very noticeable difference in performance? I usually touc...

Re: S35VN Vs Maxamet on a Para 3, share your thoughts
Hi Mzen, It's a little tough to compare the merits of two steels that are so different from each other in nearly every possible way. That said, I can understand why you might have refined your choices down to these two. Here's a little info to help you choose... Maxamet is a carbon tool steel that ...

Re: Paramilitary 2 Sprint Run... CPM20CV please!
Hum, mind elaborating a bit on this part? I am certainly praying to the steel gods for a red G10 m390 Para 3, but I actually haven't heard of other people clamoring for it. My guess would be that most folks prefer the PM2 instead.
