Do you have the Muehle R41?

The R41 is a beast. Without 500% focus there will be blood. More aggressive than a straight razor.

Re: Spyderco Chinese Chef Knife?
for the amount of steel used in the Chinese slicing knife, I can make a dozen folders The stovepipe is 4,9 oz the Santoku 5,3. 3 small EDC knives does not outperform a Santoku in the kitchen. A kitchen knife needs some length and width to be really useful. To safe steel use a thinner stock ;) I wou...

Re: Gauntlet vs Sharpmaker
For general knives (mostly kitchen knives) I prefer the gauntlet.
I have the diamond and fine stones.
For special Spydercos, EDC,… I prefer the sharpmaker and diamond stones.

Re: Anyone use a Straight/Artist Club/Shavette razor?
Then you should try the Hiyashi.
Price and name is not everything.
Fancy handle material or design does not improve the shave.
It must be sharp and you need to sharpen it. And you need to learn the technique.

Re: Anyone use a Straight/Artist Club/Shavette razor?
I had 2 shaving knives which I did not liked. The felt not sharp. Had the resharpened, still not sharp enough. Used a shavette with plastic insert. I was wobbly. Tried a shavette (30 bucks or so) where you can load half DE razor blades. Also did not liked it. I think mainly because my poor technique...

It's much more aggressive, right?ChrisinHove wrote: ↑Sun Aug 28, 2022 6:57 amI used a Feather blade in my Henson +++ for the first time yesterday. Just wow!
You have the AL version?
I prefer the Astra as they are smoother.
Maybe at the next blade change I try the Feather again.

Re: Exclusive wave 2022
Same here. For non US it’s hard to get hands on exclusives. Timezone, latency, add. tax, … If some dealers ship international (only few do) you have to pay much more, or it’s at your own risk, like with the latest Para 3. I want to buy in a shop and hold the knife in my hands before the purchase. Th...

Re: Anyone use a safety razor?
I have the synthetic muehle brush. With base plastic handle. The more expensive brushes just costs more because of a different handle material. I want the brush to be improved not the handle... I think you can get them easy on amazon. You can try the travel brush which you can store inside the alumi...

Re: Anyone use a safety razor?
That’s a nice lather!
Used the TI22 medium today. Nice efficient shave. Muehle brush with soap makes a nice juicy lather. I prefer it wet and not too thick. Normally the lather on the second pass is better and glides also better.
Used some pre-shaving oil in the past but felt no advantage…

Re: Anyone use a safety razor?
Looks nice. How was the first shave with it?
Shaved today with the AL13 +++.
Very efficient. 1,5 passes was enough.
Overall I prefer the smoothness of the medium. It feels nicer on the skin.

Re: Anyone use a safety razor?
Thank god I have limited space (limited by myself) therefore the collection will not grow too much. Used my R89 today. Different than Henson but also nice. My new budget brush is nice. Bigger than the others therefore I need more soap and more to clean. Still many variables so that every shave is un...

How big is the difference astra to nacet?
I use 3 types of blades now and want to keep it minimal.
Muehle for muehle razors
Feather for Merkur and Muehle as well
Astra for Henson

Re: Anyone use a safety razor?
Nice collection. I loaded all my Henson now with the astra platinum. The RK are not good and the feather too aggressive. With the astra they are much smoother. Which blades do you recommend for the Henson? I also asked in a local razor shop about Omega. They only had badgers. No synthetic hair. I bo...
