Re: Whats your favorite unusual blade shape?

Sheepsfoot. Preferably in serrated. The second photo is of my favorite knife and main EDC, and oh man I love that thing. The way the blade is heavier and the balance is shifted a bit, the blunt tip that won't stab me if I need to use it to chop my way out of a seatbelt, the teeth that work really go...

Plainedged Endura 3 and an ATS-55 Rescue. Enjoying the Endura, which is a new knife for me.

Re: Spyderco knife rotation? How many?

Added a plainedged Endura 3 to my EDC rotation alongside my ultimate favorite ATS-55 Rescue, although I guess it doesn't really count as rotation if I just carry both of them all the time and don't rotate anything out? Am enjoying both of them too much right now to leave either of them at home~

Re: Sell me the NATIVE 5 C41CFPE5 composite CPM154/S90V

Saber grind will absolutely worsen sliciness. On the other hand, it makes an already tough and solid little knife model into an even more tough and solid one. Probably real good for super hard use tasks.

Also it looks pretty slick.

I like the way scratches look on DLC. Not a fan of them on satin blades.

Re: Fakes

Old and discontinued knives and sprint run knives, such as the Endura 3, the Catcherman, or the Calypso Jr., are less likely to be fakes. Current and popular models, such as the Endura 4, Native 5, and stainless Police are more likely.

Re: Subvert C239GPOR

I love the shape of this and think it's beautiful. And the color, and the flat grind, and everything. It'd be a great hard-use folder for sure. But it's really thick and heavy, and I've learned over the years that that sort of thing really bothers me in knives, so I will be admiring it from afar rat...

Re: Spyderco Salt Knives as Anti-Shark Defense Tools?

I've heard lots of stuff that recommends wearing bright black and white patterned swimming clothes, because the shark will see you and realize that you're not a seal and you might be an orca, and orcas are scary to sharks. Can anyone tell me if this is accurate? Knives are probably not going to be m...

Re: Spyderco knife rotation? How many?

I used to rotate between my different Natives, but ever since I got the old ATS-55 version of the Rescue it hasn't left my pocket. Guess I've found my perfect knife. :)

That is really cool looking. Thanks for the photos and the interesting topic, I've wondered often about getting serrations put on my gray Endura and it's nice to have some idea of where to get this done.

Re: Byrd Colors, thank you Eric, Susan & Kelly!

I kind of want to buy a gray Cara Cara 2 now and swap its scales onto the Cara Cara Rescue I own. Gray looks so nice on knives.

Thank you very much to Eric and Susan and Kelly for producing such awesomeness!

Re: You lost all of your knives. Which 10 do you buy first?

Kitchen knives (for food): largeish santoku, maybe Spyderco's, maybe not smallish kitchen knife (~4in blade) long serrated bread knife Nostalgia knives (because these were my first Spydies and I'm still fond of them even if I don't carry them much anymore): Spyderco Native 5 blackout serrated Spyder...

Re: Clips: Love ‘em, Hate ‘em, Don’t care?

I tend to carry knives clipped IWB or in my socks. Those are both places that you really can't get away with having no clip. Clips are necessary for me for that reason. Also I like the aesthetics of the clips, especially the ones on older Spydies with the patent information written on them, very cool.

Re: Just bought 2 new enduras with ATS-55 on the blade

ATS-55 hasn't been used in Enduras since the 90s. Those knives are quite old. That's very cool that you got them, I've been after a copy of that model in that steel myself lately. I don't know if they still make that style of clip though. If you look up Spyderco's Pacific Salt model, the clip on tha...

Re: Are lightweight versions hindering supersteel potenial?

The lightweight knives Spyderco has made in recent years are rock-solid and very tough. The Endura and the Native are ones that I own, and with those models, you would snap the blade off far before the handle broke. Perhaps the reputation that plastic-handled knives have for cheapness and flimsiness...

Great pics. I'm a sucker for black spyderedge.
Yeah, black with serrations is one of my favorite looks on a knife as well :) Wish some of my other knives had DLC coatings like the Native.

Hello and welcome!

I can second Imgur, although I'd like to add that you don't need a phone to use it. You can use a phone, but I don't have a smartphone and it works fine for me.

Which of your knives is currently your favorite? Which ones are you looking to get in the future?

what is the horizontal thingee on the side of the grip? Just curious.
If you're talking about the yellow Atlantic Salt that Dodge posted, the horizontal black thing is a slot cut into the handle to help the insides of the knife dry out faster after you get it wet.

Re: "The one"

Used to be the Native 5 lightweight for me, but then I got this thing: https://i.imgur.com/Abkjuwk.jpg ATS-55 Rescue from the late 1990s. Got it brand-new with all its original papers from eBay a few weeks ago, and it's kicked every other knife I own out of my pocket. The Native feels small and stub...
