Re: Can we Spyderco users be assured VG10 will be with us for a good long time?

VG-10 is a nice mix of edge-holding, easy sharpenability, and cost, and has a great future as a budget-friendly or beginner-friendly steel. In a budget folder, it's a stellar choice, and I really hope that VG-10 starts to take on the kind of role currently occupied by 8Cr13MoV and AUS-8: a solid ch...

Re: Antarctica?

The USAF cannot establish no-fly zones in international territory. They can however, enforce no-fly zones for USAG planes and they do that primarily due to the extreme remoteness and the fact that almost no aircraft fly that far south. There's just no practical reason for aircraft to be down there.

Re: Sal's Casual Bombshell Thread

We are currently tooling up for three FRN models in Seki. FRN Police 4, Endela and Rock Jumper. I have only seen the Endela handle made from tooling.

All of us must immediately see the photo of the Endela... please :p
I'll have to see scheduling. Don't like to say too much too early.

Re: I Like Me Some XHP

been using xhp in the kitchen (meglio) and it definitely rocks! the edge stays long and is quite tough.. much tougher in fact than my vg10 santoku (mcusta) being run in the same hardness. i figure cruwear will definitely excel over it a bit more https://i.imgur.com/QIBCbyI.jpg That Meglio is gorgeo...

Anyway, I too wish I wouldn't have missed this one. A forum member offered me one but at the time I'd just committed my knife funds to another model and had to pass.

Re: C101PBN2 Manix 2 CTS XHP Brown FRCP Knife Center Exclusive

When I fish, I catch and release. Same with spydies. Good thing spyderco cranks new designs and variations out every. single. month. lol Do you collect primarily for Instagram photos/likes? Not trying to call you out, but you've made it known your prefer smaller knives...but here and there you bust...

I Like Me Some XHP

I only have the steel in my Chaparral LW but I really like it. This knife is one of two that regularly rotate in my pocket and this one has seen almost exclusive carry for a few months. The steel sharpens fairly easily, responds well to simple stropping, has pretty good edge retention and, for my us...

Re: Smoothness of Sage 5

My Sage 5 flicked like greased lightening right out of the box. The compression lock itself is a bit finicky if you don't keep it fully depressed until the blade is past the "catch" but the blade itself is not sticky or hung up. It doesn't just free fall but it is loose and smooth enough. If you're ...

Re: Dragonfly ZDP-189 for hard use????

There is no doubt I love me some Spyderco but in all honesty, I wouldn't recommend any of them for the kind of daily work you'r describing. Daily, or near daily exposure to carpet and drywall will be rough on any model, not just the steel but the grit getting into the internals as well. I would abso...

spyderman91: “i’m so excited i found this knife that i’ve been waiting for for 5 months. i can’t wait until i get it!” most people on this thread: “that thing is ugly. that looks stupid. i hate the manix. i hate coated blades. solid liners...?! how are you going to even lift it?! what we need is x ...

Re: So will my knives rust?

I really think as a community we've gotten lazy and spoiled when it comes to corrosion prevention. The average stainless is worlds better than what most of us grew up with, you really need to neglect your knives to have real problems. Not only do we have better steels (well, more stainless) we also...

Re: Is Everyone Sleeping?? Burled G10 Manix 2 is Out...

I love the Manix 2 and I really like those scales. I just wish the blade wasn't blacked out. A purely cosmetic addition that in my humble opinion detracts from the knife's primary job; cutting performance.

Re: Zdp future plans

I don't have anything in S110V but I have S90V and I will gladly sharpen it all day over ZDP-189. And it will wear my equipment far less. Surely you jest Eli. :) ZDP-189 is a pleasure to sharpen with simple SiC stones. I’ve found it gets silly sharp off as low as a 220grit SiC rock and near hair wh...

Re: Zdp future plans

Ya know I have to say, and this might put me in the minority, but I doubt I'll ever buy another knife in this steel in my lifetime. I was very enamored with this steel before I owned it. It is portrayed as almost mystical. And it is a very fascinating and cool steel but now having owned it, it isn't...

Your Delica 5

What would your next generation Delica look like? For me it would: 1. Have a wire clip - Not only do I prefer the wire clip for scratch avoidance and such but the end of the current clip creates a bit of a hot spot for me. I don't care about deep carry. 2. No finger bumps in the handle. Maybe make i...
