Re: Thanksgiving blessings

God Bless you, Doc!

It’s way easier being nice to one another than it is to go the other way.

We don’t have Thanksgiving here as you know but I count my blessings everyday and live my life in constant gratitude for the countless blessings in my and our family’s lives.

Re: Which models bring out the best of each steel?

Personally, I feel “Super Steels” are mostly wasted on pocket knives used to cut sandwiches, peel fruit and open mail. A bit like putting a 18L V8 Turbo Diesel engine in a VW Beetle. Ah, hahaha! Just my $AU0.02c worth. :) Funny. When I was sharpening my s110v native the other day, I imagined ...

Re: What did you use your Spyderco for last?

Brain spiked and cleaned a nice fat Dusky Flathead with my Tasman PE, HB. Not much of a photo ... great fish. https://i.postimg.cc/XvbbWmTV/5-F5-CC936-2-D75-41-B0-B8-C8-03-F46-F582-B02.jpg How did the tip hold up? Did you use it to clean the fish as well? Cool pic, the original "Fish Hunter"...

Re: It's H1, can't be rust. What is it?

I will guarantee it is rust transfer Hey cooter, I think brother Voodoo is spot on the money. I haven’t been able to rust H1 and you may just have to take my word on it for I assure you I’ve tried. What I did manage to do was actually corrode and pit the blade by accident. The first photo although ...

Re: Which models bring out the best of each steel?

A bit of a carry over from the Fixed Blade thread ... I think knives like the Sprig, Southfork ... and as Killer pointed out in What did use use your Spyderco for thread, the Proficient, bring out the best in steels like S90V. It’s better than great when you can fillet a brace of fish or dress out g...

Take one of our "more expensive fixed blades and ask a custom maker to duplicate it and see what he charges?

Re: Can we (civilly) discuss fixed blade prices?

I may be the odd one out here but I reckon a few hundred dollars isn’t too much to pay for a quality fixed blade knife, if of coarse you use it. My Sprig for example is a gem and worth every cent I payed for it. So much so I bought a back up because I have a tendency to loosing stuff. Anyhow, I doub...

Hi Chris,

I’ll get back to Mrs Scott and see how we go. I’m just hopeless at this computer stuff.

Re: Virtual Memorial for Michael Douglas Scott

Dear Forum, I received this Email from Mrs Barbara Scott, Michael’s wife, earlier today and I’m sure she’d like me to extend the invitation to Michael’s friends here. I only have an iPhone and I’m basically computer illiterate but I’ll do what I can to login. https://i.postimg.cc/VNNBYcbj/0-FDEE72-B...

Re: Thee Most Practical Spyder Of All Time? Your Choice?

Am I the only one who finds the hawksbill blades catch and open up in the pocket? Cut myself pretty good on my ladybug that way. It has collected dust ever since. Hey Blnd, that’s no good and I’m sorry to hear. I’ve carried a HB Ladybug for a couple of years now, I s’pose. It ends up in any pocket ...

Re: Knifemakers, Machinists: Help Me Jimp

For what it’s worth, I’m a Tool Maker by trade ... If I was to jimp the lock bar and FRN, as suggested, I’d most likely use a checkering file also. Set up with a guide to keep it square and straight. The only way I can think to jimp the spine and keep it pretty looking, would be to set up on a tool ...
