Re: Behind the edge database!

Just measured a couple of new ones. This PM2 is not representative of what I’ve seen on average. It’s the best one of 3. I sold the others due to thickness being bigger than I prefer.

S45VN PM2
0.019/0.020/0.018

204p Para 3
0.017/0.021/0.021

I’ll measure and post about my 2 S90V Manixes soon.

Re: Buying sprints from Spyderco direct

Spyderco doesn’t seem to “hold back” any for the factory outlet store. They are allegedly considered a dealer in the factory’s eyes, but from what I’ve been told, they only get about 10 knives per shipment. They might get multiple deliveries from the factory per sprint run, but it’s certainly less t...

Re: DLT re-release: Spyderco Manix 2 Red G-10 - 20CV Blade - C101GPRD2

i just want a dlc manix in a stainless steel that makes me better than everyone else. Hah, very true. m390 is however useful if you need high hardness and high corrosion resistance, and it is no more brittle than S30V. I'd like to see how m390 compares to H1 corrosion resistance. Larrin rated M390/...

Ocelot.

I would like to see it with a compression lock, since a CBBL definitely wouldn’t fit.

Re: He-Man Military Lover's Club - Enlist Here

I think the Cruwear is underperforming in the Shaman, because it is so much softer than the 4V Shaman. I was disappointed to see a Cruwear Shaman tested at just 59.5 hrc. In contrast, a grey checkered G10 Manix from several years ago measured 63.3 hrc. I’d bet there’d be far less of a difference bet...

Re: Best place to buy 2nd hand

One place I buy and sell second hand is Bladeforums. If you ever decide you want to sell or if you want to place a “want to trade” or “want to buy” ad, you have to be a paying member (gold or higher membership). Other forums have for sale sections too, but Bladeforums has the biggest secondhand knif...

Re: Cutlery Shoppe s90v manix lw

My first one arrived with a massive burr for about the first 3/4” from the ricasso.

It’s not a huge deal, but it is a little bit of a bummer.

Otherwise, this is an average or better example of a Manix LW, and I’m glad to have had the chance to get it.

Re: Z-max vs. Z-wear

Ok, 8th grade algebra was traumatic for me. My understanding of the transitive property brings up issues. What I am understanding is Z-wear+PD#1=CPMCruwear. Z-max=Maxamet. You’ve got the right idea Z-wear = CPM Cru-wear PD#1 ≈ CPM Cru-wear Z-max has less C, Cr, Co, W, and V than Maxamet. Z-max also...

Anybody has a real world experience on how easy/hard does this steel sharpens on a spyderco knife compared to S30V?
SPY27 hasn't made it to consumers’ hands yet.

It does have lower carbide content than S30V, so theoretically, it should be slightly easier.

Re: New reveal...Zwear/micarta Shaman, s90v Native Chief, k390 Seki series, Slysz Swayback! So much to love.

Does anyone have any experience with Z-wear? I believe Larrin may have mentioned it before but it hasn’t been on my radar. It’s analogous to CPM Cruwear. I have used it in a few small fixed blades I ground and had heat treated by Peter’s Heat Treating to 61 hrc. It’s the reason I enjoy CPM Cruwear ...

The Z-Wear Shaman (wish it was a different color), Yojumbo, Swicks and Mule interest me most at the moment.

Where’s the S110V Lil’Native?

Re: Which spyderco is in the mail?

Air and Mantra 2, inbound. I've been wanting to try the Air. M4, nice blade shape, Ti liners. Sounds right up my alley. The Mantra 2 is a nice bonus, I'll get to compare it to the original. Despite lots of pre-purchase reservations I’ve been enjoying a Mantra 2 as well. Mine has (and yours may have...
