Man, I'm glad I picked one of these up. It's a factory second that I ended up tuning up, and it's great in a lot of ways!

Re: I really hate wanting a discontinued knife

I enjoy the rise of blade swapping and moving things around to get your 'perfect' knife to use. In many cases, models may move fast as collectors snap them up, but at least those in pursuit of creating the knife of their dreams do generally plan to use it and feel the design sing in hand.

He's trying to be fair and randomly doing these so flippers & bots can't just post up and wait for the pre-orders.
That's actually not a bad strategy. the Crucarta release had a large number of instances where bots snatched up the supply pretty much instantly.

Re: KC Exclusive Shaman Rosewood REX 45

This certainly didn't disappear as quickly as the Micarta Shaman. Is the Shaman love affair over? CG the Cruwear Micarta phenomenon hit the sweet spot of blade material and handle material at the same time, I believe. There's a lot of exclusives or sprints where the blade steel is great but folks a...

Re: S30v chipping on new knife after first use

Zip ties aren't hard use in my experience, but it depends on how much you're twisting as you pull.

I find they're a job best suited for my hawkbill Dfly2.

Re: Sticky compression lock

there's a lot of locks (liner and frame come to mind) where the contact between lock ramp (on the blade) and lock face is just a point. On a well-designed lock it's a line contact.

From what i've seen of spyderco's compression locks, it's definitely a line contact, at least on the golden models.

Re: Tanto PM2 Support Thread

Well, it's our job to make sure that this initial batch doesn't collect dust on BHQ's shelves. Not that I think that's likely, but we all know that good response to the base model helps make a good argument for sprints....

Re: SHOT Show 2020 Videos and other info concerning new models

Man, super pumped for how soon we may see that tanto PM2! I usually recommend the Shaman to folks who use (and sometimes abuse) their knives, as I know that the Shaman will take everything you throw at it. But sometimes the Shaman doesn't fit well in a person's hands, and they need something smaller...

Re: Tanto PM2 Support Thread

Ah, as a BHQ exclusive. That's particularly interesting, as this allows Spyderco to share some of the risk by doing a smaller exclusive run.

Hopefully we'll be able to buy it soon!
