Re: Why don't you have more spyderco fixed blades?

I do intend to get a waterway and the new swick, but fixed blades don't currently fit 99% of my use cases. Fixed blades are inherently easier to handle and more reliable, for sure, but where they falter is the safe, consistent return to carry. With a folding knife I can make it carry-safe while in m...

Re: What would folding pocket knives look like if Sal never started Spyderco?

It's highly likely that I wouldn't be into knives nearly as much, and we'd never have the compression lock, which makes me sad to think about.

Re: S30v

I'm a fan of s30v as a default Spyderco steel. It offers dependable good performance and remains a cut above a lot of the budget steels. I'm happy to buy any intriguing model (the ikuchi, for instance) even if it doesn't come with a hot new steel.

Re: Upcoming Shaman Exclusives??

The only thing about the shaman that isn’t present elsewhere in Spyderco's lineup are the thick contoured g10 scales. It’s a bit of a mystery to me why it’s so much more expensive than a PM2 for example. But it is a cool looking knife, and I’d love to have the crucarta version!!! About twice more s...

Re: What makes S90V so special?

I find that S90 and S110v excel at holding an edge through material that would absolutely dull other steels with lower carbide fractions. Stuff like carpet, fiberglass and refractory insulation, etc.

Re: 2020 Spyderco Forum Calendar Contest!

After several attempts, I finally got a successful hi-resolution upload.

I think my issue was attempting to upload a .png image, not a jpg. I usually default to .png to avoid compression. Just a heads-up.

Re: 2020 Spyderco Forum Calendar Contest!

^ This is why I haven't decided on my submission yet. I'm just a guy with a phone camera, so I consider myself lucky to have won last year. This year, I haven't come up with anything that I'd call a winner. :( Your photo was unbelievable last year. This will be my second year entering, and as someo...

Re: How about a titanium compression frame lock?

maybe the best way to go about it would be construction similar to the Para 3 LW - solid Ti scales, steel lockbar?

I am guessing that within the next couple of years we will see so many different Shaman 'Exclusives' that most people will be tired of it. Kinda like the 800 runs of the Para 3.
I'm here for it! :D :D

Re: Mantra 3 vs Sliverax which one to get?

Depends on hand size. The mantra is the best fit for small hands, while I'd suggest the amalgam is the best option for XL hands. The sliverax is a good in between.

Also, I've uploaded the full size image, but once the page submits, I get a blank page, not any confirmation. I seem to remember it taking a while for the page to change over once I submitted my image. Yeah, I think it uploaded, but the page I landed on was blank. Still had a calendar related spyde...
