Re: Ebay

The widespread condemnation of price gouging on essentials during a disaster illustrates a fundamental truth: There's more to humanity than individual rational actors in an idealized market, and sometimes the demands of common humanity require going beyond what economics would normally dictate.

Hi Curly,

The larger design is being considered for full Ti.

Good to know, thanks!

Re: LC200N Caribbean

Sal,

Thanks for taking the time to answer our questions here. A followup: is the rumored full-ti model the larger size or the smaller size?

M4 DLC Shaman
I've been waiting for a good Sprint before I pick up a Shaman. This one would be awesome.
I'm a big fan of the DLC M4 PM2.

That's why I'd enjoy a DLC advocate.

M4 DLC Shaman

Maybe a DLC advocate sprint. That'd be fun too.

Hi Ejcr,

The blade and liners on the Caribbean are LC. The ball detent is ceramic, the clip is Titan. The screws are not LC.

Good to know! Based on my understanding of the comp lock, are the pivot bushing and stop pin LC?

EDIT: slightly late to the question!

Re: Does Made in America Need to be Expensive?

I'd say made in America doesn't ensure quality, but it does make fixing quality issues a bit easier. Definitely appreciate the kinds of sprints we can see from Spyderco's USA-made category.

Yeah, the dealer listing used to work but IIRC correctly it's pretty hard to maintain.

Re: CPM S30V CQI

My experience with s35vn is that it's always either too soft or too hard. S30v seems to be more balanced at this point

I'm definitely a fan of s30v over s35vn, especially spyderco's implementation.

In my opinion, the quality of the production sample was quite nice and the design is executed quite well. Considering it's not a fancy midtech-y knife design, the quality is right there with all the other Taichung Spydies I've ever seen.
I'm rather excited for it. :D

Re: Let's get hyped for the Amalgam!

You'll definitely see a difference between stuff made in the various facilities.

As someone who recently picked up a CQI Advocate, I can see and feel the improvements. I thought the Southard was a high-performance cutter, but the Advocate just dials that up to 11.

Really excited for the Amalgam.

Re: No Love for the Shaman?

Finally got to handle one of these.

I'm super super impressed. It's the "designed for extra hard use" folder that we've always wanted. I definitely want one in 3V or M4, but I like it so much I might just get one in s30v ANYWAY.
