Re: Disappointed with Native 5 G-10 S35VN Sharpness

I just bought a CTS-204p KnifeWorks Military when they were on sale recently and the sharpness was pretty awful, not to mention there was a nick in the blade. Not sure why it happens but this wasn’t the first time for me. I guess it’s not a big deal since I’m going to sharpen it anyway. Good reason...

Re: Spyderco Gratitude Giveaway

Very nice. I'm in.

I've found Jim Ankerson's tests to be very helpful in learning about all the different types of steels out there! But in general, I've gleaned a ton of knowledge from everyone on the forums here, particularly in honing my sharpening skills. Pun intended. Thanks to you all!

Re: What's you're biggest folding knife pet peeve?

Prob a tie between blade play and lock stick for me, but lock stick wasn't on there. So I chose blade play.

Excited to see this. I will most definitely have to pick one up even though I'm not keen on the handle choice as many of you are. Really glad spyderco is using some American steels on this iconic model. Maybe well get M390 or S110v next. One can only hope. Edit: Does anyone know if Knivesplus and k...

It's interesting this one is an exclusive. Wasn't the 52100 Military a sprint?

Re: The New Military 2!

That's not a Military 2, it's a completely different knife. some models are up to #2, #3, # etc, that they are no longer the same knife that started out as and have significant improvements. while their have been some minor improvements on the military they are not significant. It's been so long wi...

Re: Is it worth stropping Spydies? ... and something about Sharpmaker hard stones

An important component is what kind of compound the strop is loaded with. I have one strop loaded with the standard Alox compound and it works fine for more simple steels but really does nothing to something like M390. For those higher carbide steels I have another strop loaded with CBN compound and...

I always pause before putting them in and think about how I don't want to bother with them. But I always end up using them anyway. Safety first and all.

Re: Microbevel/sharpening help

So I went to sharpen my Delica 4 VG-10 yesterday and I kind of ran into something I wanted to ask about because I've done some searching and can't find the exact answer I'm looking for. The knife was previously sharpened by me at roughly 15 degrees and then microbeveled at 20 degrees. I've touched ...

Re: Stainless steel that behaves like a carbon steel

M390 in not stainless M4. M4 sharpens to a way more aggressive edge. I personally don't like stainless steels because they feel kind of bland while cutting (in comparison to M4, PSF-59 (which is simular to 10V), K390 or Super Blue). But I've only tried the S...V range, Elmax and M390, so maybe AEB-...

Re: more high-chromium steels please

Para2 sprint in BD1? Doesn't sound like a bad idea. In frn. ;) YES!!! :D and once there's an FRN mold it should also be made in FRN/Cruwear and a couple of others.. ;) FRN Cruwear PM2?? I'll have 3 please. ;) FRN PM2 would be really interesting. I assume it would have to have liners for the compres...

Re: M4 Millie Maintenance

Being able to see water in between the liner and scales was obnoxious enough for me to get rid of my M4 Paramilitary 2. It happens with all the scale colors, but with the solid colors you can't see it. It's mainly just an aesthetic thing though. I rinse all my knives and I've never had the liners co...

Re: Help me pick a Military

The M4 and 52100 models would be my votes. I believe national knives still has the 52100 model in stock. M4 gets nice and sharp, is decently corrosion resistant, and has very high wear resistance. The 52100 model will get very sharp with basic hones, takes a great polished edge, and can be taken to...

Re: first PM2, I cant tell if tis a fake

It looks genuine to me. Of note is the area you circled right by the plunge. The bevel has that "J" shape indicating it was sharpened by the newer robotic method they've started using in Golden.

Next time just buy from a more reputable dealer and you won't have to worry about it.
