Re: Russian aftermarket scales?

Thank you this post and the responses. I’ve been tempted several times to order, but after a not so great purchase from Russia in the past I was concerned. Now the hard part, deciding on which one.

Re: s45vn pm2 sprint alert thread

Well, there’s several on the ‘bay for obnoxious markup. As I keep saying, short runs only help and encourage flippers. I find no happiness in Schadenfreude, so getting something someone else cannot have is not an incentive for me to continue chasing sprints.

Re: Spyderco Cat Refresh

The Cat sure seems to be a good platform for sprints or exclusives, but there must be a reason why there are none. Maybe the factory lacks the capacity or will to do other than what they’ve been doing? Maybe something else?

Re: Lil Manix

I’d rather see an exciting new design incorporating the CBBL instead of an iteration of what we’ve seen before. I’m just weary of the same old, same old just slightly larger or slightly smaller.

Re: Sal—design for Roadie 2

So I have a drawing for a Roadie 2 - blade-2.75". The 1/2" blade addition is really a larger knife than I thought it would be. So I'd like to continue the discussion. Partly to hone in what would work best and how many actually participate in the discussion. Are you thinking that the knife should b...

Re: S30V Steel – History and Properties

Looking at the charts, it is interesting to see where Nitro-V places. Certainly seems it might be worthy of its own article in the future. Based on the same charts, S30V seems to be just about the same as 154CM, so hardly a super steel. It has always performed better for me than VG-10 despite it bei...

Re: Question to Sal (and generally)

I would still like to see a comp lock with the tab extended and folded 90 degrees to make flat surface instead of the uncomfortable cut-out.

Re: Roadie Ti. Hear me out.

I like the idea of ivory white G10, Ti would be a distant second. I also do not support the use of Gucci steels in tiny knives as it only serves to drive the cost up and you'll rarely get to see the steel perform at its best in such a tiny package.

So is this a covert thing to see if we like the logo before spyderco announces it as real?
I highly doubt it, but I also lack any inside information.

Re: Reputable Online Retailer Sugestions and Experiences Good or Bad

I've had great experiences with Knifejoy, New Graham, National Knives, Knives Ship Free, Blade HQ, Knifeworks, Knifecenter, River's Edge Cutlery, Smoky Mountain, DLT. I've had a very bad experience with Knife Outlet (taking orders for sprint run knives they didn't have and ultimately never received...

Re: Crunch-Time Hardware? Spyders For Trying Times?

No change here, my Kapara is holding its own. Why, I just cut some twine with it today to secure my tomato plants to stakes, so it's holding the line against saggy tomato plants!

Re: Spyderco Rebrand Concept

I am gonna be the odd man out. I haven’t really shared this but I don’t love Spyderco’s logo much. I live in the heart of Lyme disease country. I know more people who have had Lyme around here than who haven’t. If you spend time in the woods, and i spend a lot of time in the woods, you hate ticks. ...

Re: REX45 Para 3 Lightweight

I'm sure they hope you'll end up buying more than just the one you originally hoped for. It would be smart for them to capitalize on FOMO. Well they kind of got me on that one. Although I purchased from another vendor, I jumped on the Native 5 LW earlier this week because I wasn't sure I'd get one ...

Mine was a gently used Native in 440v. Utterly smooth action, fit my hand like it was made for it.

Looks great! If I had not already purchased a Manix 2 and LW Native in REX45 I would have grabbed one of these this morning. I love that green color, but not enough to spend the money after so much outlay this month. More for y'all!

Re: Serration Disappointment

There are lots of reasons for the serrations being ground on the “presentation” side. Not least of which is that that keeps the knife (when being used by a right hander) from drifting into the body of the user or the hand holding the material. ... :spyder: Thank you for that clear explanation. That...

Re: Are sprint runs too small?

I hope not (too) off topic, but honestly: I never understood why a knife is more desirable just because it is produced in a limited run...? Sure, I maybe get the "thrill of the chase" and maybe the momentarily relief if one has something in hand of which they were uncertain to get it at all in the ...
