Re: You Get What You Pay For: Yeah You Really Do

If you twist a wrench for pay, tools are your livelihood, in that case "pro" tools that are unconditionally warranted and have service that comes to you weekly to sell or warrant broken items are worth every penny you pay for them. For most of us though, well sized, decently finished tools of a slig...

Re: My PM2 is cursed!

Someone on here said my knife was cursed, and to sell it immediately! They may be right. Check this out. This happen last Wednesday, and I accidentally stabbed my self. It bled like no bodies business, and since I can actually kinda use my hand now. I figured I’d share a current photo that I just t...

Re: Asking for advice: How to restore a (just slightly) blunted tip?

Grind the spine down. If you do not have an extra coarse bench stone you can use sandpaper. Tape a piece of 100 grit to your kitchen counter and grind the spine away. You can then move to 220 and then 400 grit to give it a smoother finish if you want. I have done this many, many times. This is smal...

Slicing apples with a knife is messy business.

I think you’re probably best off just holding the stick and biting into them. :)

Do all the apples Down Under come with the stick?

Re: Which Delica gets the CF treatment?

I like it, the "damascus" is a bit busy and random, but still cool for what amounted to a $20 upgrade from the standard VG-10 blade, I think the dark etched area on the blade works well with the matte CF. It'll be complete when my polished clips arrive early next week (got one for the BB M390 as wel...

Re: AEB-L Urban sprint issue.

All this discussion of the "D hole" issue with flat FRN handle scales makes me wish for a G10 handled Urban... it started with G10 scales, but when it re-emerged from hibernation in Italy they were gone :( The recent HH exclusive UKPK gives me hope that we'll see them again some day, though I'm begi...

Re: Which Delica gets the CF treatment?

I *knew* there was another Delica creeping around in my collection... I also have the foliage green damascus version. now I'm leaning toward that one getting the CF scales... On a related topic, has anyone tried a set of the brown micarta scales from the Russian ebay seller on their Delica and if so...

Re: Manix titanium ball bearing cage

Having bought one of the metal cages I can say that I see no benefit functionally to them. It is probably more durable but i never broke the plastic one either. I bought it for aesethetics. For the original black cages, I agree with you. However, I have had two broken white cages, one in a knife fr...

VToku would be my first choice.

I have a Flytanium CF backspacer if you need one.

Thanks for the offer! I'll install the Ti one first and see if my instinct that a contrasting spacer will look good is sound, if not I may drop you a PM :D

Apple slicing...

Am I the only one here who doesn't view eating an apple as an excuse to use my knife? We grow a lot of apples in Vermont and pretty much everyone I know just eats them without cutting them up. Throwing the core when you're done is a bit of an art though ;) It might also be my penchant for not wantin...

I buy a lot of carbon fiber scales for the manix 2. I have paid around $75 for most carbon fiber factory scales. I was even able to find 2 sets of the marbled carbon fiber ones at that price. That included shipping and fees.

where do you shop for them?

Re: Manix titanium ball bearing cage

Just as an FYI: Flytanium heard our plea and now has Ti, brass and copper Manix 2 ball cages available! I have a Ti cage on order (sadly, it's blue as they don't have natural finish available now, despite the only image being the naked Ti) and as soon as it's installed in my CruWear/CF Manix, I'll ...

Which Delica gets the CF treatment?

this is a hard decision, since I like the scale colors of all the Delicas I own... I'm leaning toward the V-Toku2, but which would you do? I have five potential victims, plus one backup: BRG/ZDP-189 Burnt Orange/HAP40 (there's an unused backup of this one) Burnt Orange/HAP40 Wharncliffe Gray/V-Toku2...

Like a massdrop exclusive? Not sure exactly how massdrop works, but I think people could start up a survey there to feel out opinions on a color/steel/scale material.

Sounds like a plan to me!

Re: Prospects for more Manix 2 backlocks?

The Flash batch concept might be a possible venue for a Manix LB revival... At as few as 250 pieces that would undoubtedly sell through even if the only exposure it got was through the forum. If this happened I'd think there would have to be fairly strong consensus on what steel and color would be p...

Re: G10 UKPK officially makes a return! Heinnie Haynes Exclusive

Current FRN models are in BD1N, which is a significant upgrade in my experience (Para 3 LW). Is it really that much better than BD1? I think I can wait for a significant upgrade in a drop point steel. I bought two Hennie Haynes so if I really want I can just use the S30V one. BD1N feels significant...

Re: G10 UKPK officially makes a return! Heinnie Haynes Exclusive

OK, all of you who have never had a first generation UKPK, *this* is what it's supposed to feel like! The HH exclusive brings back that solid feel that the FRN versions lack, just in a slimmer package, I'm really looking forward to future G10 UKPKs now that the tooling exists. I also have to say tha...
