Re: Indian vs Swedish-made "Mora Knife": What do you think of these?

Helle has their own laminate stainless formula, that's quite good and Bohler Uddeholm produces much of their steel in Sweden. Frosts, Eriksson (and one other I think?) consolidated into "Mora", IIRC they all used Sandvik for their stainless offerings. The Karesuando knives are run a bit softer than ...

Re: Para 3 lightweight

I had to do some unforseen plumbing today and the knife clipped in my pocket happened to be the Para 3 LW. It was used to de-burr the inside of a copper pipe and to cut some PEX tubes off of their metal ends (the tension straps were removed with Vice-grips), this brought the edge and tip in contact ...

Re: Records.

I’ve just pulled the trigger on a Vm-95e/h audio technica is substantially easier to find locally so that’s a safe bet plus the interchangeable stylii is an easy way to try out some options. It's hard to argue with the quality you get for just a few bucks in the basic A/T carts, but the VM 540ML (l...

Re: What's your favorite Spyderco that's a little bit of a "hidden gem?"

My vote for an off the radar Spydie that outperforms its reputation and should get more love and pocket time (from me as well) is the Kiwi 4.

Re: Records.

congrats on scoring Station to Station! What phono pickup are you running on that Technics? If it's an old 70s/80s Ortofon (looks like one?) you may want to think about upgrades... not only are newer designs likely to have better frequency response and separation, but also the option of hyper-elipti...

Re: What's your 2 knife EDC system?

My two-knife EDC system is simple: select the Spyderco I feel like carrying today, clip it in my RFP and walk out the door... one knife does just fine ;)

It should be noted that ThePeacent is in a twelve step knife program :D

Re: PC Immersion Cooling

My AMD FX-8120 is running at lower temps than it did with the stock cooler while being overcooked at 3.8GHz, on air (Arctic Freezer Extreme)... while immersion and liquid nitrogen are awesome for breaking core speed records, actual stable O/C often doesn't even require liquid cooling. The overclocki...

Re: Advantages of 4 " (plus) blades?

Stimulated by some recent posts and discussions I´d like to adress a question to all of you who like to carry folders with blades of 4 inches or longer: What are the actual advantages of such a long blade in various EDC-scenarios compared to a not short, but around 3.5 to 3.8 blade ? Let me specify...

Re: Cat

For my taste a 50/50 choil without serration is a strong strike against the design. Same with thumb ramps: having a thumb ramp or forward finger choil encourages their use to enhance grip, but having the contact areas on the blade be smooth defeats their utility in large part. Even in a gentleman's ...

Re: Records.

The colored vinyl DMM reissues of the Beatles red, blue, and White albums are all sonically excellent LPs. In a way I'm bummed that they didn't do the whole catalog (at least if they did the individual albums weren't available in the US), though the CD remasters that came out a few years later are a...

Re: Cat

I have the N5 LW and four Chaparral variants, but the standard Para 3 finds its way in to my pocket more often than the others. I definitely want a linerless Native G10, but the right combination of scale color and steel hasn't popped up yet.

Re: Massdrop SG2 Delica...arrived!!

so.... how *does* SG2 from Spyderco stack up?

I know it's highly esteemed in the Kitchen knife world, but as HAP40 has proven, not all HTs are equal and a steel that has it's hardness lowered for the sake of durability can be quite different from it's harder iterations.

Re: Sal, any hope for a Cruwear Native 5 in dark gray G10?

Yeah, the fact that this hasn't happened yet is a bit baffling. I don't own a linerless G10 N5 and I can't think of a better introduction to it than a CruWear Sprint!

Re: Cat

More of a D'fly fan here, my Cat had crummy action and soggy lock-up until I fit some brass washers in place of the polymer ones. It's still not a fave even after that (very effective) modification. I'm waiting for the Para 3 LW to give me the perfect combination of compactness and utility :D
