Re: What models would you like to see with the side button compression lock like the Smock

At this point I would say none. The Smock has not been in circulation long enough to get some solid feedback. I tend to favor Walker liner locks and a compression locks but under normal usage I may only open and close a knife two or three three times a day so the lock in terms of closing or disengag...

Re: Spyderco x Vanquest Envoy-13 Messenger Bag

I have been carrying some sort of over the shoulder bag for about 30 years. It is indispensable for caring my laptop, or these days my iPad, phone notebook pens pencils water and all the other junk I tend to accumulate when I was working in IT and project management. I only once or twice had some id...

Re: Spyderco EDC Bag in the latest Byte

When I leave home for any kind of trip — day or longer — I take lots of stuff. My old small Timbuktu bag isn’t quite big enough nor does it have the organizational flexibility I need. I think Spyderco’s new one will be a worthy replacement.

Re: Your Thoughts of an Ideal Companion Blade?

I have to say that I have been forced from the theoretical to the practical. Let me illustrate why and the conundrum that has created for me. Last Saturday we left Denver after multiple days of medical appointments scans labs meetings etc. Having finished my chemo but I having fallen and broken my l...

Re: Where is my CQI Ikuchi ?

I think for my needs the Ikuchi or the Para 3 LW are the best choices. I very much liked my Ikuchi and will buy a new one and sell my Para 3 LW. I think it is that good.

Re: Chaparral Compression Lock?

If a Chaparral with different lock were offered, I would prefer Walker Liner Lock. I do think the back lock is fine but I’ve had to adjust the lock bar spring on both my FRN models to gain an acceptable pressure. I don’t know why this hasn’t been changed at the factory.

Re: Neck Knives? Good or Bad?

If I were younger and backpacking again, I would have a Helle Algonquin around my neck when in camp for the night. Handy. Available even in the dark and with a handle big enough to handle any in-camp stuff. That Helle is a Swedish made knife isn't it? And by the way how long of a blade did you have...

Spyderco sent me a triangular coin. I am a veteran and am just fine with their tribute to armed defenders only on this one.
