Appearance is important, but I have to admit I have bought knives that I first found ugly (spyderco jot singh khalsa for example). My opinion can change on this subject. The only way price is involved is when it is really too high. I bought a Gunting one year after having seen it at Paris Knife Show...

BRAM, I have to be there !!! Please let me know as far as you know the dates (I have to see how I work these days). If you do not find a place to stay, I live in Paris west suburb, a little far from the Bourget where the show use to take place, but it is always better then sleeping in the streets......

PARIS KNIFE SHOW

Last year, I had the chance to meet BRAM FRANK at the Paris Knife Show and due to his convincing demonstration I am now the owner of Gunting Nr 287.

My question is : Will I meet one of you this year (29/09 and 30/09) ?

Any chance to meet some spyderco team member ?

I had the same problem with my Matriarch, the tip is plain edge and wasn't realy sharp.
I sharpened it with my sharpmaker, as if it was a really small plaine edge blade.
Took a little time and concentration, but it was worth it!!!

For the last 10 months it was Matriarch.

Nowaday, it is a Gunting.

As far as I know, it is a cricket style blade with a new handle and a new locking system.
Seems to be really interesting.
Sal, correct me if I am wrong.
P.S. I have a pic I found many months ago but I will only send it if Sal is OK. Sorry

I own both, a khalsa and a gunting. When you put both side to side, you must admit gunting is looking quite a lot like khalsa, in term of general blade look. (BRAM any reason ???) BUT, khalsa is not made to be used closed. That is obvious. And as far as I know, gunting is made to be used 90% of time...

Hi BRAM thanks for the answer.
In fact, it is the kind of little thing that someone sees and cannot forget until it has an answer.
By the way, I thought it had to do with shared components.
It suits me fine anyway.
P.S. T-6 Torx are really hard to find here in France.

Gunting Screws

A question for BRAM

I am the proud owner of Gunting n°287

Why is there three different screw types on it ???

I mean, torx for the scales/assembly, allen for pivot pin, and phillips for the clip.

Hi BRAM ! Thanks for your answer. I was really happy to meet you last september at Paris knife show. You made me a great (and painfull !) demonstration. I am sure I will enjoy my gunting, and I will NEVER open it on my leg !!! Had a great opportunity to buy a live model this month, but I know I will...

Gunting carry with clip only

As skunkwork sheaths are unavailable here in France, how would you carry your gunting using only the clip.

I will soon be the proud owner of a brand new one.

thanks in advance.
