Strong preference for Hakkapella, but would buy Bifrost, not sure if I'd buy Bjorkman's Twist.

Re: Ti Chaparral washer measurements

Don't have the dimensions but, logically, the ID should be just a hair larger than the OD of the female half of the pivot screw. If they're the same as the ones on the CF version, then the OD appears to be about 3X the ID, That shouldn't be critical as long as it's small enough to not interfere with...

Re: SMKW exclusive Autonomy 2 carbon fiber

Does anyone know off hand if the clip is comparable to any other model that an after-market deep carry clip would be compatible with, looks similar to a Shaman at first glance... TIA! Edit: actually looks similar to a Native5 LW more than a Shaman I think Can't say for sure about the Shaman, as I d...

Re: Unpopular opinions

I’m pretty new to this forum (18 months), don’t post much (4), but visit to read almost daily. I learn a lot, but one reason I don’t post much is it seems many of my opinions aren’t held by the majority of this community. For example: 1. My dragonfly feels like a toy. Also, the short wire clip is t...

Re: important knives in your collection?

Out of nothing more than curiosity, in your opinion what are the "must have" knives for any collection? we all have our favourite that seems to suit our unique needs and taste the best. . . . what say you? In my opinion, there are none. Tastes differ, needs differ, what works perfectly for me may w...

Re: Spyderco coffee mug

Recently got a mug from Zazzle. I am disappointed with the printing. The website showed a nice image with clear text and a diagram (it is a cheat sheet for git commands). The actual mug has printing that seems washed out and of a lower resolution. Maybe this is not indicative of their work and the ...

Romeo is a 10 year old Miniature Schnauzer who decided he wanted to live with me last October when I visited a local animal shelter.

Re: Spyderco coffee mug

The mugs from Deneen are beautiful and classy. I would certainly buy at least one of them. OTOH, if Spyderco wanted to do something that required no monetary investment, no inventory to maintain, and no employee time beyond designing the logo or logos, setting up a CafePress or Zazzle store might be...

Re: Best Spyderco for the $$

For me, it would be the FRN/VG-10 Stretch 2. It has all the features I require in a primary EDC carry folder: 50/50 choil for hand protection and grip options hand neutral lock decent blade to handle ratio handle long enough to be allow a full 4 finger grip behind the choil handle short enough to ri...

Re: Browsing the Spyderco Forums old school.

Retired for 11 years now, but prior to that I worked as a computer programmer and systems analyst for various New York State agencies. Started out coding in COBOL and IBM SQL against a DB2 database, spent my last ten years working in an Oracle shop using Oracle Designer to create Oracle databases an...

Re: Can a knife be centered but not look like it?

Depends on what you mean by "off center". For example, some knives use washers of different thickness on either side of the blade. For that reason the spine will be parallel to the liners/handle, but not centered within it, when the knife is closed. Also, just about any knife can be positioned so th...

Has anyone else come across some interesting reading that involves a Spyderco model name?

Does listening to Iron Maiden doing "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner" count? ;) :D Or that, a the time the Mariner came out that mariner was a British euphemism for a homosexual?

Re: Anyone else Aeropress coffee?

Well, my AeroPress arrived on Wednesday ... Apparently, you can achieve a much stronger brew with the AP by using it inverted, which allows you to choose the amount of steeping time. The Interweb appears to be crowded with people demonstrating this, and perhaps worth exploring. Thanks, that's defin...

Re: Blade HQ customer service

I've never paid for next day air shipping, but everything I've ordered from BHQ has come in a timely fashion. It may help that the driving time from my house to their location is just a touch over 3 hours. I've never sprung for next day air either, but over the past nine years I've had multiple exp...

Re: Damasteel UK Penknife UKPK - HANDLE OPTIONS final poll

I did not vote, as there's no option for "none of the above" and, while I strongly prefer the Ivory G-10 option (assuming it's polished and not peel-ply) and would just as strongly inclined not to purchase a knife using "shred CF" as I find it consummately ugly, I would be willing to purchased the k...

Re: Anyone else Aeropress coffee?

Well, my AeroPress arrived on Wednesday and I've used it a few times since. My initial observations and impressions comparing it with the method I've been using have been a mixed bag. On the plus side, it's a bit faster. Water takes the same time to boil, but pressing a portion of it through the Aer...

Re: CryptoCurrencies?

I fear that if the USA goes through something similar that cryptocurrencies and/or precious metals might at least give you something to buy food with if nothing else. Correct me if you believe my thinking is wrong? Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't you need internet access, or at least cell phone ...
