Re: Interest in Shaman Maxamet sprint run.

It's a pricey option... But M4 or Maxamet would definitely be worthwhile.

Re: Jot Singh Khalsa Ad?

I have a set of two posters that apparently were distributed to knife dealers to display. They are both different than that classic Jot Singh Khalsa ad which "anagarika" just displayed that was in several of the popular knife magazines of that era. One of the Jot Singh Khalsa Posters I have is with...

Re: Toughness...layman term and usage

That's not necessarily a bad example. Ceramic is definitely lacking in toughness compared to steel's.

Re: Spyderco’s Polestar & Alcyone should not be in the “VALUE LINEUP”

The price increases don't over shadow the value either. Not by a long shot. Some more exotic or artistic models are really up there but not what I'd consider overpriced, there are real overpriced products on the market, not naming names but they have followings. Can't please everyone, especially som...

Re: Spyderco’s Polestar & Alcyone should not be in the “VALUE LINEUP”

Whew back on topic here! I think the Polestar is a cool design, I really do! But it's overshadowed by so many other designs and the "China" print on the blade deterrs me when I can snag a Delica/Endura for a little bit more. Put it in the $80-120 category with CTS-XHP and produce it in the US or Tai...

An M4 Shaman with a 15 DPS edge would be so fantastic.

Re: Spyderco’s Polestar & Alcyone should not be in their “VALUE LINEUP”

The US choice is appealing, and may benefit from a rebranding of the knife, like a name change to work well and convince everybody that it's new The second Taiwanese option seems to be more easily integrated jnto the current lineup but it would certainly be less of a standout than if it were Cruwear...

Re: Worn out CBBL

The carbides in the steel would definitely contribute to an increase in wear, at least in theory. Otherwise bearing steel would be high carbide haha.

Re: Worn out CBBL

Contamination and lack of lubrication with combination of use can induce wear faster than otherwise. (Especially the lack of lubrication)

Re: Can Spyderco improve the Back Lock or is it at its peak?

It's probably close to as good as it gets without getting more complex, like in the Triad, the version with the internal stop pin, power lock, and the like. That said, I'd be kind of curious to see if you could do a ceramic ball interface on the part touching the tang (a la CRKs with the frame lock...

Re: Spyderco Ceramic Knife: Your design input welcomed!

There really should be a rope and cardboard cut test with ceramic knives. They can be sharpened to a high sharpeness at home with diamond stones and compounds.

Re: Spyderco Ceramic Knife: Your design input welcomed!

There are tougher ceramics and even ones with flex. But they come at a price and still will fracture at the edge.
