Re: The Sal

I'd check with Eric. I'm sure Sal gets an extra smile whenever he sees Eric's designer mark on a Spyderco. Especially one designed specifically for him.

Caly 3.5 –– with all of Sal's (unspoken) favorite materials –– might do the trick too.

Re: Smock Knives SK23

Will post my own pics tomorrow. Just got my SK23 in the mail today, it's been a long wait but my initial impressions are that it was worth it. It has a Spyderco licensed compression lock operated by a button. Fit and finish are outstanding and customized just for me, including being his first left ...

Re: OK, it's time to get serious

Cool concept. As for a name for this knife, may I suggest the 'Jazz Hand' ? Agreed, it is a cool concept. Fun thread to follow, watching a knife being made conceptually. So many random ideas somehow working together (and Sal sort of orchestrating along the way), but it did begin with Jazz. I...

Re: Delica 4 or Manix 2?

Can't go wrong with either, obviously. Manix 2 if you're really liking the CBBL on your XL, I'd say. Lightweight for serious backpacking and can handle even tougher jobs. Love that Delica 4 too, such a great value. Still....mentioning "backpacking" makes me think LW Manix 2.

Great EDC size, I'm sure it will be very popular. I believe I read it will be named "Minuteman," wondering if that's still true?

I agree with L.C.. With such well-designed ergos, specific G10 and color just add flavor to a very potent, efficient Rhino.

XHP would be sweet. Cruwear Sprint would be a Psycho Rhino! :D

Re: The loss of common courtesy

The fact that you didn't have the decency to have your man present my butler with your card before entering into conversation indicates that you may indeed be right. :D So hysterical! And intentionally so. :D Courtesy differs between urban and rural areas, between blue states and red states. When i...

Any updates? Late to the party, but can't help but still celebrate, and anticipate, such a cool LBK design. So impressed, SpyderNut! You've already thoroughly explained the ideal-ergos-priority need to occlude the Spyderhole on one side. Makes total design sense, even to this stubborn lefty. :)...

Re: Your favorite spyderco that you believe is perfect

Chaparral, so far. As a modern version of the "gentleman's folder," it's a definite upgrade in every way. Even knife weight to blade length ratio is amazing. Fits my hand well. Thin blade has so many daily uses. Doesn't take over my pocket. Clip is ideal for it. As a lefty, the back lock has become ...

Re: Harpy G10 Sprint

Hold on a minute "Sully" and let's not throw out a very usable baby with the proverbial bathwater>> because I'm definitely in your camp concerning the G-10 Harpy and it is my favorite Hawkbill that Spyderco has made up till now. But don't underestimate the stainless Harpy because it's still a decen...

Re: Harpy G10 Sprint

.... ..Because look how many very successful models now do very well with G-10 handles. I think the fan base is there now without any doubt and a new G-10 Harpy I believe will blow away it's stainless handled counterpart. That's the point that really hits home with me. I wouldn't even consider it w...

Re: Unabridged Unapologetic Case for the Para Military 2 Left Hand *

Certainly there is something to be said for being content to always just adapt, to derive comfort from conforming to the status quo. Spyderco seems to go in the other way. For that, I am very grateful. 500 LH pcs. from Golden (< 4" blade, green?) will sell. Well. Regardless of steel type, I dare say...

Re: Unabridged Unapologetic Case for the Para Military 2 Left Hand *

Actually it is not an unreasonable request. In the early days ('80's), we made both left and right hand models before made them 4 way. We also made a LH Millie in the past. Because Golden is double timing, adding new designs is challenging. Even a LH versioon will need some new parts as the model h...

Re: Unabridged Unapologetic Case for the Para Military 2 Left Hand *

Why bother making any dedicated right hand Spydercos?....said no one ever. :) Just trying to keep this light-hearted. My sincere point is that there are so many interesting, state-of-the-art Spydercos that utilize locks other than the great back locks and (c)bbls (and bolt action too) commonly found...

I'd buy that version! Or even H-1 SE with the Dark Green G-10 suggested, if that's not heresy.

Assuming reversible clip, of course.

Re: Spyderco One Piece Tool

Maybe a less ambitious tool is the answer. For example a Spyder key fob, bottle opener. The Spyder rear end is very similar in shape to some cap lifters. A steel laser cut out of the Spyder of the proper size may get the job done with only minor modification. Put the Spyder butt under the cap and t...
