Re: Another KnifeWorks 204P Exclusive

Now how did I miss that? I get the newsletter. I looked at the picture but did not read the text about the exclusives below the pictures. Won't do that again.

Where does one find this signup? Also for the M4 PM2? I can't seem to find it on their site.

Re: Multi-angle/steel edge retention comparison on 1/2 manil

Years ago Buck published CATRA data on a few steels (420HC, ATS-34, and BG-42). They found that 420HC with 15 dps outperformed either of the premium steels (which were also harder) with 20-25 dps if I recall correctly. That is why they changed the angle of their edges, and named it Edge 2000, and la...

Re: How flat are the triangle Sharpmaker rods?

When I hold the rods together, comparing all combinations of sides for the medium and fine rods there are only 2 of the 36 combinations where I don't see light between them. Some are better than others. One combination involving the two fines looks pretty dead flat. That means all of the other surfa...

How flat are the triangle Sharpmaker rods?

Just curious how much variability there is to the flatness to the Sharpmaker rods. How flat are yours? Have you ever checked them by holding them together and seeing light between them?

Links to old threads no longer work

In the past I have seen (and have used) links to threads. Now those links do not work. They just take you to the page that says the forum is down for maintenance, the one that showed up when the forum changed to the new software.

In a training video for a National Nuclear facility they show the procedure for going through the portals. Empty your pockets into a bin, step through the detector. The person demonstrating placed a Paramilitary in the bin, and then pocketed it after going through the detector. I was surprised but k...

Ask him what the code on the box is, that will say a lot about the provenance of the knife.

The picture that Donut posted is NOT from the link I posted. What Donut posted does not raise any question in my mind. The knife in the link does, however. It has a hole in the blade forward of the handle, and an additional hole at the butt and the picture on the site even shows a lanyard there. I t...

But the hole is in the blade, forward of the handle. There is a separate hole at the butt of the handle for a lanyard, where a lanyard is actually shown attached. The hole in the blade reminded me of the trademark hole that Spyderco puts in their fixed blades.

I check bags when I could otherwise use a carry on specifically because I want to have a knife with me. I don't travel as much as some here, but I have not had any issues. I have checked Sebenzas as well as Spydercos and Benchmades (even an inlay Sebenza, and a custom from Ray Laconico). If I am che...

I agree with nccole on this one...although it might reduce the knife usage (and some fun on the job), it is a shame to throw away perfectly good clothes and shoes. Perhaps this might be brought up to management, I am sure there is a way to donate that would not result in lost sales. The clientele at...

I agree with kbuzbee as well. I find S35VN to take a very nice edge, and so far I have not seen the micro chipping I have seen at times with S30V. Maybe that is due to my more limited experience with S35VN, so time will tell. As far as edge holding, they are so close I have not seen a difference. I ...

I don't run as long as you, but I carry a Para (1) IWB about 2-3 o'clock and I have never had a chafing problem. I also have it in my pocket while mowing the lawn in the heat and humidity of the summer (push mower on a hill, I need the workout) and it often has sweat on the blade. I normally only wi...

People are capable of many things when they are scared and hungry. It may only be on a local scale, perhaps on a larger scale, but it may not take as much as some think to tip the scales. Hopefully this will never happen. Ask the folks in Argentina what happened with their economic collapse in 2001....
