Re: a safety reminder...

All my knives are either in a gun safe or on a magnetic strip in the kitchen that my son cannot reach. The only other knives around are the ones in my pocket. Guns are also always locked up unless I am carrying them. I am quite cautious with my boy. He is a strong willed and brazen. My boy is now 5 ...

Re: What "Other" is in your pocket???

I love the look of those BRK Kepharts, Darby. Really nice! I have my TRM Neutron in the pocket today. One of my few non-Spydies. I've only had it a day, but I really like it already.. it's a very nice knife! https://i.ibb.co/MfFW6j3/n.jpg Thanks! I have almost bought an Atom a few times. It is very...

Re: What "Other" is in your pocket???

We will see. It isn’t as easy as I thought and it appears as though some of the nose bones are broken. I still need to do some glueing and some bleaching. :o

Re: What "Other" is in your pocket???

Thanks. They are nice knives and they offer an amazing selection of handle materials as well as blade steels. They are hand made and mass produced so I can find some small flaw in all of them but only if I really look them over. There is definitely some variation from knife to knife as well. The gri...

Re: BladeHQ M4 Jade Dodo

Thank you. Last weekend when working on the fish tank we did a PH test and it came up 7... Neutral after going through a water filter with activated charcoal which is between 9 and 11 IE Alkaline so maybe this helps? I don't know if it is like this all the time or not. It could also be the high amo...

Re: BladeHQ M4 Jade Dodo

Many steels rust on me with the acidic water we have where I live. If it is public water and your water is acidic you should have it tested for lead and copper. Your water department should be doing both and they are required by the EPA to send out a consumer confidence report annually. Many system...

Re: Folders for food prep?

It is all perspective. When camping I don’t mind using a Mora to do food prep. In my home it is only thin kitchen cutlery. I have prepped entire meals with a BK9 while camping. That is a 3/16 inch saber ground blade that is 9 inches long and weighs a pound. I am not going to use it in my home though...

Re: What "Other" is in your pocket???

I have a slight addiction to Bark River at the moment. :) The Wilderness Explorer is probably the best fixed blade I own. I skinned the deer above with my Southfork and then processed most of the meat with that Wilderness Explorer and a Gyuto. Most excellent!!! Mountain Man 5” in CPM 3V Wilderness E...

Re: What "Other" is in your pocket???

Trying to do my first European mount this year. My wife is out of town, my boy is in school and I have the day off so I am doing it in the kitchen. ;) Shhhhh...... I have the vent hood on high. :) It was like 16 degrees this morning or I would have done it outside. Using my Bark River Kephart, Bark ...

Re: First Opinel Experience

I'm not overly in love with the blade shape either but it's probably well suited for outdoor use, I'd imagine it would skin fairly well. For the money these knives are amazing slicers. They have the No. 8 Garden knife with a spear point. Unfortunately it only comes in stainless. It will be my next ...

Re: designs - evolution - lifting

We all stand on the shoulders of those who came before us. Genuinely new ideas are a rare thing. Spyderco didn’t invent the pocket clip, they were just the first to put it on a pocket knife. A brilliant idea for sure but it also borrowed from someone else. Intellectual property is a very modern idea...

Re: Folders for food prep?

Food prep? No, not usually. Definitely not at home in my own kitchen. The only thing that my folder gets used for in my home kitchen is opening packages. I do use some of my various hunting and outdoor fixed blades in my kitchen but that is mostly just out of curiosity. I will however use my folder ...

Re: Knifejoy Exclusive Para Military 2

These ridiculous sprints where the supply is 1/5 of the demand and they sell out in seconds is just tiresome. It isn’t fun. It’s stressful and disappointing. The opposite of what a hobby is supposed to be. Oh well. I completely agree with this sentiment. If a hobby is stressful and disappointing th...
