Re: What I want (and a pony)

No such thing as a knife that never needs to be sharpenened. If you don't use it you don't have to sharpen it :D :D But is it still a knife if you don't use it-- or is it then a knife-shaped-object? ;) Maybe Darby is right from a metaphysical perspective--that all knives need sharpening? Sure, some...

Re: What "Other" is in your pocket???

Darby, what model is the very bottom knife? I was looking around last night on DLT Trading, it takes a little time going through the 5,968 models Bark River offers!! :D That is just their standard Kephart in desert ironwood. I really like it. They have done the standard Kephart in 3V and CPM154. Th...

The Keen today..
I love my Keen. I have the stonewashed brass version. One of my favorite knives. I would love to see Spyderco work with Laconico. Spyconico?

Sorry for the terrible focus. :o

Re: What "Other" is in your pocket???

Life has been crazy hectic lately (but not too busy to buy knives that I don’t need) which is why I haven’t been posting as much but I will get some comparison pics after work tonight. Please don’t put yourself out in anyway Darby. There’s no urgency whatsoever. :) https://i.imgur.com/VrF9FhHh.jpg ...

With utmost respect ... why did you kill the snake?
Well, they taste pretty good. :D

We raised goats when I was a kid and they were constantly getting killed by snakes. I have seen a couple of dogs get bit too.

Re: Where is my Bow River ?

Can we see the Bow River next to a Southfork?

Is the handle bigger on the Bow River?

Re: Spyderco Supergold, Superblue ? VG10

.... Super Gold is a powdered stainless steel enriched with vanadium. It is also called R2. It should fall somewhere between XHP and S30V in performance.... I am not a steel expert by ANY means, but happen to have a bit experience with both XHP and S30V: Is there really much space between those two...

Re: Spyderco Supergold, Superblue ? VG10

Is 1.2562 the same as O7? Why don’t makers here in the US use O7?

Re: Spyderco Supergold, Superblue ? VG10

Vg10 is a basic stainless ingot steel. Similar to 154CM or N690.

HAP40 is a high speed tool steel designed for use in high heat manufacturing. It has high cobalt for high hardness when very very hot. Rex45 is our domestic equivalent.

Why, again, are we trying to make our Spydies harder to find when they fall on this or that type of ground?
I am an avid outdoorsman and I just like camo. Also, I try not to drop my knives. ;)

Re: Spyderco Supergold, Superblue ? VG10

I own all of them. The white steels are basic carbon steels like our 01, 1095 or 52100. The blue steels have a little more alloy (tungsten and vanadium) content so they have a little more wear resistance. We don’t really use their equivalents but 07 is an example. We need more knives in 07. Super Go...

So an upside down frame lock?
On the surface it does appear that way but the comp lock actually operates in a very different way. The force vectors are completely different and the comp lock works more like an axis/bolt/cbbl.

Re: How about a titanium compression frame lock?

There was a Salsa and the ATR and there was a fluted Ti Para2 with integral comp lock. I have a pic of it somewhere. Why an integral Para2 has never come to fruition is beyond me. I am sure it would sell well.

I like power windows and power mirrors. I like heated mirrors too. I prefer manual seats and manual transmissions. I wish the back window of my truck was powered because it is a quad cab and I cannot reach it.

Re: Is it Time for a New Camo Pattern?

I am against the idea of a Camo pattern that requires paying a royalty. I am tired of paying big up charges for mossy oak and real tree.

I want the current Camo in other colors. A snow camp or blue camo would be cool.

Re: What "Other" is in your pocket???

I bought them both used for great prices. :) I definitely like my Bark Rivers. Many of their knives are too thick for me but the four that I have are all awesome knives with thin blades. I may pick up the Mini Kephart next. Life has been crazy hectic lately (but not too busy to buy knives that I don...
