I picked up a 2nd hand Chicago recently and it has proven to be exceptionally useful. I can get it razor sharp, easy one hand open and closing with the liner - lock (which I far prefer to a back-lock), it was cheap enough to not be precious, and I don't have to worry about scaring the sheeple (and g...

Very cool scales. I would guess you countersunk the "wrong" sides.
Nice work.

I think that would be a real treat, I know for us, meeting Sal and/or Eric would be much more satisfying than either of those blokes! :) Really?!!! I'm sure Sal & Eric are great guys but to miss the chance of meeting John Lennon back from the "other side"? I'd imagine he would have something of rea...

As a layman and casual user, I can only conclude that as each steel performs and degrades differently for each media, overall performance would depend upon both the various media and both the magnitude and order in which they are cut. I think it is therefore most rational not to worry about it, and ...

Considering where H1's most known strengths lie, how about the old style naval jack-knife blade shape - kind of reverse tapered, snub nosed wharncliffe, perhaps with a line cutter and/or section of spyderedge on the reverse.

I'll get my coat ......

I know nothing about knife locks but it looks to me that achieving 3 perfect contact points that subsequently wear evenly may be tricky. Do lockbacks have 3 contact points?
Is there any play now? If it it ain't broke, don't fix it!

We must now call the good guys "heros", and refer to heros as "gods". It's just inflation.

At least the question wasn't about King Sal's LEAST favourite model!

That's strange because both my Manix 2 LW The transparent Blue and Drk BLue with the s110v have very smooth action and feel very solid . The lock up feels very strong to and I've had a few fellow knife lovers check them out and even commented how good and smooth the action felt .Personally love min...

Good stuff. I have only recently come to realise myself that sharpening is the "other side of the coin" when it comes to quality knife ownership, and any knowledge / skills in this respect are very worthwhile indeed.

Any knife, as long as it came with Ray Mears attached to it. Not in THAT way, mind. ** cough! ** See the Bears game? The Gurkha kukhri always struck me as the ideal, with large, stout blade, plus small detail blade and sharpener in the same sheath. The Schemp Rock looks closest to me, so in the unli...

Why not ask the seller where they got it from? If it's used and they got it from a reputable dealer then you're ok.
I bought my Millie 2nd hand and had the same concerns resolved in this way. It's my absolute favourite Spydie.

If it's a mate, tell the truth: you owe your friend that.
If it's a stranger, tell the truth: why become a liar on their account?
One has to be kinder to children and workmates, I suppose, but you can perhaps ask the latter if they really want to know what you think!
