If a Delica size is large and formidable, then what about a Military, or a Chinook? I think the media looks at any sharp edge as the equivalent of an AK-47. This wasn't even a decent knife, but rather a $2 ripoff. If it is sharp, then it must be evil. Have they not heard of knives as tools? Spyderwa...

Regarding the Flat-Iron folder, when I was in Colorado during the summer I went to a Flat-Iron shopping mall. I wonder if that is where the name came from. The knife store there did have a nice selection of Spyderco, although all at full list.

Spyder Toy

I stopped by a local Dollar Tree store last night and scanned through the toy section. They had a Rescue outfit for a GI Joe type doll with accessories. It came with a small plastic Spyderwrench. Minus the Spyderhole. I almost fell over laughing. Spyderwa Rare Spydercos www.angelfire.com/trek/spyderwa

Great site. It reminded me of the book Connections, where one invention leads to another which leads to another and so on. Thanks.

Washington Knife Show

I hope that if any of the forum members live around Washington State they can make it to the Northwest Knife Collectors Show which is held inside the Puyallup Fairgrounds in conjunction with the Arms Collectors Show on Oct. 4-5th. I happen to know that there will be some Spyderco knives there. Spyde...

Here is a pic. of one type of ballistic knife. The Russians have another one that shoots a bullet out of the handle. As far as the Police goes, the standard rule of what the local authority determines is threatening seems to be the biggest factor. The nice thing about a Spyderco is that they are not...

I have often been in a store where they did not have something in stock and been told a far-fetched story about why it was not available. The banned in US Police story takes the cake. There are knives that are illegal in some states and not others such as switchblades and other automatic opening kni...

If you have a knife that you like, why not personalize it? A lot of people that do that have one copy that they keep original, and another that they customize. As long as you don't damage the operation and functionality of the knife, let the fun begin. While I think the knives are excellent on their ...

The last three Probes that I saw were at knife shows. One of them sol;d for $175 and the other two were priced close to that. Be on the lookout for Probes with the rubber lanyard that came with them. It is made out of surgical tubing, or equivalent. Mine is bright yellow. Spyderwa Rare Spydercos www...

Keep in mind on the "Q" knives that there are a few prototypes that were made that are unaccounted for. Our friend at Spyderco that is writing the article should be able to shed some light on the various models. As far as the website goes, I still need a good picture of the ceramic probe to post. I ...

The TTZ Probe is indeed a rare one. I have only seen one picture of it. This was Spyderco attempting to push the envelope of new materials. I believe it was a hardened ceramic. Maybe the closest cousin is the Sharpmaker? Spyderwa

I have a list on my website of the rarer Spydercos. It is not perfect as there are a number of special models that are sometimes shared with workers and friends that never make it out in the open. Spyderwa

There are Dive Probes and Mini Dive Probes. I have seen them go for as little as $125 to $200. As always, the amount that an item is worth is only dependent on what you are willing to pay. Some people have gotten lucky and stumbled onto one sold by someone that was not aware of their value, but that...

The ball knot is also known as a monkeyfist. It helps if you put something round inside. Here is a link that does a good job of showing how to make it. http://www.angelfire.com/pa4/t173/monkeyfist.html The first one takes a while, but after that it is easy. The handle of the Dragonfly has never fit well in my hand. I think it should be a little fuller without being longer. In the picture included I have moved the hole forward, added a barrel nut to act as a ferrule since this is often a keychain knife, and reshaped the top of the knife for more control...

From what I can see there were a lot more Spyder-edge versions than plain. At least in the standard configuration. If you look at my webpage with the "Q" gallery you see both types with the majority being Spyderedge. When I have found them in stores, they are usually Spyder-edge. Spyderwa Rare Spyde...
