Man vs. Bear with knife

Found this in the news today. Always carry a knife! A 61 year-old man armed with a 3 1/2 in. knife killed a 200 lb. black bear. This happened 190 miles outside of Vancouver, British Columbia. Check the link below. http://www.newsday.com/news/nationworld/wire/sns-ap-bear-stabbed,0,6213739.story?coll=...

I now live with a PE Dodo. I like the color and the feel. Second choice would always be a Delica.

The Spyderhole allows you to control how fast the blade opens. You don't get that kind of control with a assisted opener. I have a few Kershaws in my collection, but they are there because the mechanism is fun to play with. I carry Spydercos because they work well. One added bonus is that I don't ha...

Arrgh. . .I just spent a prohibitive amount of time reading this thread. It makes me really appreciate the integrity of Sal and Spyderco. I have heard Sal talking openly about what has and has not worked, and I know that he has backed it up with research and testing. In some ways this thread is funn...

I make a few out of old files and Boeing Surplus titanium. Just for myself and experience. I really have a better appreciation for knifemakers that forge their own. I also have developed a healthy respect for titanium. Incredible metal.

Does anybody know if the elusive Ferrari or Playboy prototype "Q"s were ever seen? Did Barry come across any really unique "Q"s in the research for the article?

They did have pictures on the forum a while back. Some knives have a lot of publicity before launch. Others are cloaked in secrecy until the last minute.

This is happening much more than publicly acknowledged. Do file a claim. Some people have gotten money back. Good luck.

I don't own all of the "Q"s that I have pictures of. My purpose is to provide a resource for fellow collectors. I certainly wouldn't mind owning some of the ones pictured. I have been in contact with other collectors that are trying to catch all the "Q"s that they can, and they send me the occasiona...

The real question is whether Barry was able to locate the "Q"s that he was looking for.

For pictures of some of the "Q"s scroll down on my webpage. More pics coming soon.

After talking to people that have been involved in cutlery operations in China, the general feeling is that when there is tight oversight of the factory by Western interests, the quality can be quite high. Once the oversight goes away, corners tend to get cut. It is difficult to manage a Chinese fac...

Interesting. Does the latch lock it in the open position? Or is the only thing that keeps the handles together in the open position hand pressure? Thanks.

When you order a numbered Spydie you can sometimes select a particular number. I try for multiples of 10 or 25.

It is the new self-clipping lanyard. I probably could move it down a little. Ideally the clip bolt could be replaced with a hollow one that would solve the problem of drilling a hole. :o <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> Spyderwa Rare Spydercos www.angelfire.com/trek/spy...

I think that there were some restrictions on the Matriarch, LEO only, but I was unsure on the Civies. Thanks. Spyderwa Rare Spydercos www....

The Spyderpac is a large knife roll that is available through the Spyderco Factory Store. There are three variations available. I will try to post a good picture when I get a chance. The roll is made out of a heavy Cordura with clear windows to see each knife in it's pocket. It rolls up and comes wi...
