I've customized my Southard as well and now I have to force myself to carry other knives. Spent a few days working on getting the back bevel down to 30 degrees while watching netflix. Takes a while due to the hardness of the steel but man, when you get a nice edge on it it's wicked. I really like Br...

A month or two of extra savings to get what you really want always results in a happier buy. Save for the Techno and you'll be glad you did.

I would collect ammo if the world was really going to head into some post-apocalyptic wasteland.

I would also buy any of the tools needed to handcraft knives, swords, arrows, etc and learn those skills. That expertise would be far more valuable than just having a collection of stuff to sell.

It's not even your knife until you put your own edge on it. Being afraid of sharpening your knife is like being afraid of putting gas in your car!

Definately not. VG10 does everything I could ask for in a knife steel. I really don't get why people pay so much more for "supersteel" when you can get a Native with S35VN or a Para2 with S30V for $120. Because at one point S35VN and S30V were supersteels too. By purchasing sprint runs and mules th...

For the most part you'll find that Spyderco comes with a back bevel that is between 30 and 40 degrees inclusive so using the 40 degree edge setting on the sharpmaker to put a working edge on your knife is pretty easy. Some companies will come with >40+ bevels which require you to reprofile to get an...

That was the worst Superbowl I've watched since the '00 Ravens/Giants game. Total snooze-fest from the first quarter on and the commercials were pretty lackluster too.

It's got the best liner lock and is probably the smoothest opening Spyderco I have other than my Southard (ball bearings). It just glides like glass on those bronze washers, it's crazy. It keeps getting smoother too.

Do we need more? Absolutely. I love that Spyderco is on the cutting edge (pun intended) of R&D in the use of awesome and new steels in their knives. Simply being satisfied with what you have is good for nothing but stagnation. Evolution and development requires people to be unsatisfied! The demand f...

Because the "do it yourself" working generation is dying. Gone are the days of 95% of people tinkering in their garage. Our society is wussifying as we speak, lol. As for weapons...I think firearms own that niche. I agree, but I also think that the internet has done a decent job of revitalizing it....

And spketch! I can't even begin to lay claim to the great work he did with the scales. Really stand-up guy and easy to work with too. I think this is my favorite design of STR's clip too, it's shorter than his normal clip and works just as well.

Redwood Burl Southard

Hey guys and gals, I've finished my upgrade of my Southard and finally have taken some pictures and am ready to post them up for your viewing pleasure. My clip was created by BF user STR and my scales were created by BF user spketch. Enough blabbing, here are some pictures, hope you dig em! http://i...

I generally stay away from ebay in general due to the problems that you've encountered. Sometimes the fakes can be VERY convincing! Generally speaking, online shops like cutlery shoppe, knifeworks, howes, new graham, etc are the best bet to pay a good price and get a genuine article. You may be able...

I'm not a fan of assisted opening knives, so it's not for me. However, they just announced the 0562 which is similar in size and shape but is a normal manual flipper. I am quite interested in that one, the carbon fiber one with the M390 blade to be exact.

Funny enough, opening the PM2 with my thumb is probably my least favorite way of opening it due to the chance of the compression lock pinching my hand. What if I told you that I believed that there isn't a piece of ice on this planet that is 4,500 years old? You really don't believe there is ice in the Artic or Antartic that is older than 4500 years? That would suggest the entire polar cap regions have completely melted in the past. I'm not so sur...
