Re: UK Penknife sprints

I have to ask, if S110V is so good, how come a lot of people don't like it? Serious question from a non steel aficionado. The answer is simple. S110V is not that good. At least it is not well suited for knives. This is not an answer. Saying it isn't good doesn't clarify anything. Why is it not good...

Re: Poll - UKPK Sprint Steel Choice

52100 has never been used by Spyderco in contrast to all the other steels included in the poll. Sorry, what you say is wrong. The first Mule team knife was made from 52100 steel ;) I am aware of that. I have already mentioned it in this thread:http://www.spyderco.com/forumII/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=667...

Re: Poll - UKPK Sprint Steel Choice

Hey Ignaz, I voted for s110v but only just. s110v has impressed me hugely in the lw manix format. I am also a fan of cruwear and m4 but I'd like to try 52100 one day also. I tell you what, if you (or anyone else) can convince me about the benefits of 52100, I will change my vote. Who knows maybe ot...

Both are much tougher than S110V just like almost every steel.

Re: Poll - UKPK Sprint Steel Choice

Thank you for the poll Jon.

I voted for 52100 but I can tell you right now that S110V is probably going to win.

You don't have to worry except you are often around water or live somewhere where climate is damp. I often carry carbon steel knives and never had any issues.

Re: UK Penknife sprints

No problem on my end. I'd like a Cruwear UK, or even 52100. When it comes to steel, I'm easy. Whattayouwant? sal Cru-Wear sounds great but 52100 would even be more interesting. It would be the first Spyderco with that steel if you don't count the mule and also the first Golden made non-stainless st...

Re: Any new spydies w/ Compression locks?

What is going on here? I have to agree with yablanowitz. I think his criticism is adequate and no reason to feel offended.

In my opinion the compression lock may be fun to play with(if you are right handed) but it is actually pretty nonessential.

Re: UK Penknife sprints

Thank you Sal for informing us and also contributing so much to the discussions on this forum. However I personally would be pretty disappointed with any exotic steel. I simply don't have any use for them. Why not just consider FRN UKPKs with S30V or S35VN blades? Or other high performance non-exot...

Re: UK Penknife sprints

I carry a drop point UK quite a bit. Sprints are always possible, but if made with exotic handles, the cost becomes high and sales are poor. Materials like G-10, Titan, Carbon Fiber all have to be machined which really raises the costs of manufacture. We might be able to make sprints using exotic s...

Me too, I love the drop point blade shape on the UKPK. Looks a bit like a Stretch.

Re: UK Penknife sprints

S30V IS better steel for me. OK I thought you meant "better" than S30V. Better than GIN1 or CTS-BD1. Not necessarily. I like those steels a lot. In most cases I even prefer them to S30V. But I guess most people won't agree with me. I would very happy with a blue ,green or grey G10 UKPK in CPM-S30V ...

Re: UK Penknife sprints

I would be very interested in another UKPK sprint. Grey, brown or dark green G10 would look pretty nice if you ask me. But I would not want "better" steels. I am not a fan of those "super steels". S30V is adequate in my opinion.

No it's not. Dividing by zero is impossible. A smaller Para 2 can actually be made. However, it is pretty paradoxical as well.

Re: 2015 Forum Knife Freestyle Model Nomination

I would like a UKPK or Urban a lot. I also think something unusual like the Dodo or Poliwog could be interesting. Their clever and innovative designs represent the company well.
