Re: Knifecenter s35vn orange g10 Positron exclusive

So mine arrived today and the F&F are good. The action isn't ultra smooth yet but the detent ball has to wear its track before that tends to happen. The lock is easy to disengaged left-handed, which is great since I'm a lefty. It came decently sharp but I gave it a few passes on the Sharpmaker. Over...

Re: Knifecenter s35vn orange g10 Positron exclusive

I went ahead and ordered one. If the lock is no more difficult than the GB1 I'll be ok because I don't mind recessed locks. I'm hoping there isn't a hot spot with the clip but if there is I'll probably just pocket carry it without the clip.

I use USP mineral oil. It's cheap and it works well enough. I add a drop once a week for slipjoints, etc.

Re: spyderco sure is sucking

Pretty sure kristi is going to give you a time out in about three, two,... And for the record, I buy spyderco because of the rhino. It’s a model no other maker would bring to the market and sal has the cajones to drop a whole shipment instead of releasing them when they didn’t meet his standard. Th...

I'd buy one in a lefty version. I can't do right-handed compression locks.

No. I saw xrays of it somewhere online.

I have the trailing point version, and it's very light and a great slicer. I have never needed to baton to start a fire so I can't speak to that.

It took 2 years to save enough to buy it? Then you didn't check the screws? Either a kid or a troll.

Make it dark green and 204P and I would definitely buy one.
Is 204P a heavy steel like D2 or VG10?
Most steels are between 0.28 and 0.29 lbs/in^3.

Re: Dice - Get One before they are Gone

I got my Dice last Wednesday. Fit and finish is great, as with all my Taichung models. The blade is centered, the grind is even. However, it was very dull out of the box. This was probably the dullest Spyderco out of the box I've ever had. It didn't look used but maybe it was a return or just a fluk...

Re: Dice - Get One before they are Gone

Just snagged one from Knives Plus for $110 shipped. I've been on the fence about the Dice but I've been wanting a smaller knife for office carry. The Sage 2 has been great, but I like my Domino so much it's past time to get a Dice. Thanks for the heads up.

Re: I'm going over to Buck

1) Spydercos have become too expensive. I'm actually using my knives now. Before I just played around and cut rope and cardboard like everyone else. Then I got tired of babying my knives given that they cost over $100 dollars each, sold all the expensive ones, and kept just a delica and manix. Actu...

Re: Best steel for sharp edges

The thinnest cross section at the highest refinement (under 0.1 micron, etc.) is going to be the sharpest. For an edge to last it needs to be thick enough to withstand the forces applied to it so that the wear is by blunting and not by fracture or crumpling. The more carbides you have in the matrix ...

Re: Reviving Sharpmaker Brown (medium) rods

Get a small amount of barkeeper's friend and make it into a paste. Scrub the rods and then let them sit in the sink for a while, a half hour is plenty. Then rinse them off with warm water and let them dry. I've been using my Sharpmaker for 7 years and the stones cut just fine. They're not the right ...

Re: I Hate Japanese Spydies, Sorry

Bodog, designs particularly Sal's backlock designs weigh heavily in me continuing on. Like many of you, I can afford anything, but I gravitate and keep going back to Sal's backlocks. It's also too bad (in general, not just knives) that made in Japan is not and has not been a value proposition anymo...

Re: I Hate Japanese Spydies, Sorry

My brown Endura 4 in VG-10 is just a hair off center but otherwise quite nice. The action is smooth, lockup is solid, unlocking is smooth, the blade came sharp and is easy to touch up. My Stretch in Super Blue (laminated) is also ground a touch off center, but is very smooth, and as a laminated knif...
