Re: Bow River info

The dimensions are somewhat similar to my Spyderco Moran trailing point. I'll definitely be getting one of these to try and then probably more down the road.

Lefty-friendly knives please

Almost everything in the 2018 mid-year product guide is not lefty-friendly. Re: Smock Flipper

Can anyone confirm that the second detent means the button alone does not close the blade? It's not clear from the video because Eric doesn't demonstrate it.

If it's carried in the left hand is it likely the button could be depressed accidentally?
Eric said the button won't open the blade
Accidental closure is what I was thinking about.

Re: Non Locking Flipper

Looks like the detent would wear out and you'd be left with an unusable knife. I'd be curious to see how long that interface holds up. I'd suggest getting a slipjoint with some nice jigged bone scales to rub on to ease the fidgeting if a locking knife isn't legal there. Or maybe Spyderco could make ...

Re: Sal, what are the chances for a AEB-L spydie ?

I'm in for at least one of whatever model as long as it has thin stock, is ground thin behind the edge, and is at least somewhat lefty friendly. I can't do regular right-handed compression locks, but pretty much anything else works for me.

Any chance of a lefty version? I have the lefty PM2 and like it a lot but I can't see myself using a right handed version.

Re: How to oil non-stainless steel?

I use mineral oil on a rag. I dab a little on the rag and then rub it on the blade. I remove any excess with a dry part of the rag. Works well enough.

How about AEB-L vs Maxamet in a sushi knife? Which one would be "high performance" in that role?
I wouldn't want either one.

But then the Japanese custom makers don't use AEB-L either.
And what kind of alloys do they use? Are the properties closer to AEB-L or Maxamet?

Re: Primary steel choice: S30V vs S35VN vs CTS-XHP

S35VN and S30V should be nearly indistinguishable in use. S35VN is easier to machine than S30V, so the manufacturer benefits from that. S30V and CTS-XHP have been very similar in use for me, so any of the three steels mentioned is fine for me.

Re: Knifecenter s35vn orange g10 Positron exclusive

So mine arrived today and the F&F are good. The action isn't ultra smooth yet but the detent ball has to wear its track before that tends to happen. The lock is easy to disengaged left-handed, which is great since I'm a lefty. It came decently sharp but I gave it a few passes on the Sharpmaker. Over...

Re: Knifecenter s35vn orange g10 Positron exclusive

I went ahead and ordered one. If the lock is no more difficult than the GB1 I'll be ok because I don't mind recessed locks. I'm hoping there isn't a hot spot with the clip but if there is I'll probably just pocket carry it without the clip.
