Anybody waiting for Para 2 sprint run instead of trying to buy now?

My first Paramilitary 2 is the next thing on my want list, but I would be willing to wait a month or so if I thought I'd have a chance to get a sprint run knife, instead of joining the fray for the ones coming out now. I've been trying to watch for indications of when a sprint para2 might come out, ...

Great idea, and I will the next time I buy one, but for now I'm hoping a paramilitary2 is next in line.

It does sound like a QC issue with the machining. Spyderco will look into it and make it right. They're a good company and want satisfied customers. Try sending it back and see what they say. I'm sure they would replace it, but it's covered by the dealer I bought it from last week, so I just plan t...

Well, I took a more careful look at my Caly 3.5 today. By the way, it seemed perfectly clean inside and out when I got it, and blowing out with Dust Off didn't help. The friction between the liners and the blade is noticeable but tolerable. If I depress the lock, the blade will not open from gravity...

Thanks again, everybody, for giving me the benefit of your experience. I had just about decided to return this one, but I think you have convinced me to at least try some of the less intrusive suggestions. It may be a day or two before I get a chance to do it, but I'll report back when I decide. Doug

Based on this thread and threads on other forums over the years I finally took the plunge. I just ordered the Wihia 79242 10 piece Torx set along with a Wiha 28103 1/4 Bit Holder (stubby). All just under $30.oo shipped from the big A store. Me too (after getting Eddie-fied by this thread :) ), exce...

I ordered a manix 2 xl today. I gave up and ordered a satin blade because I could not find any sellers of the black blade. I thought everybody was out of stock. It turns out my problem was I was using the model designation "C95GBBK2" which I got off of http://www.spyderco.com/catalog/details.php?pr...

To some extent, it's an apples and oranges comparison. When opening and closing a knife with a ball bearing lock a ball bearing is rolling along the rear surface of the blade tang, so it probably has the lowest friction of any lock. With Reeve and Walker locks you have the very small contact point ...

Thanks also, Scottie and Clip, for the extra information. I'll be weighing my choices. Given what I paid for this thing and the fact that some of this may void the warranty, I may negotiate with the seller for a discount before doing anything major. This is the same dealer I just ordered my M2 XL fr...

I might try this too, but I'm sure there's a point somewhere after which I couldn't return it as "unopened."
Thanks.

New Caly 3.5 ZDP C144CFPE -- first impressions and a problem

EDIT: 1 JUN 2013 -- UPDATE (full details in my post of 1 Jun below) THIS TURNED OUT NOT TO BE A PROBLEM AT ALL-- I finally followed the advice given in this thread by several forum members, properly cleaned and lubed the knife, and now the Caly 3.5 is turning out to be one of my favorites :) ORIGINA...

Bb? Sorry, still kinda new. I'm still waiting for wonders and warriors (lol) to get them in. If you mean my "b/b," I just meant black handle/black blade. I'm a total noob at this forum and haven't figured out yet if people are using initials for dealer names to save time or because it's frowned upo...

Thanks for all the research guys. Unfortunately, none of these sources seems to have incorporated black w/black blade into their thinking, which is what I'm looking for. Tactical Cutlery has by far the best price I've seen, but not low enough to sound like a really bogus site, and I also think PayPa...

Since I have the time ... I apply vigilance and persistence when spotting fakes like this .... and they are out there in great numbers. there are a lot of indices, what can help you to spot fakes! the para2 fake above to example doesn't come with gimping! you're at the right place to get to knoe all the details! maybe check out the knock offs replica thread here in the forums! regards jul Yes, the lack of jimping is pretty obvious ...

What scares me is that any unscrupulous individual could snap up several fakes and turn them over quickly on eBay as the real thing, just selling as an anonymous individual. I've just been bitten recently by the Spyderco bug (spider?) and the fake pictured on eBay seemed to have every detail. I'm lo...
