Re: Help me choose a Bug

Just caved and bought myself the standard Ladybug HB. (Imagine that USN one will fetch a healthy price at auction, more than I'm willing to pay anyway.)

Found a "see price in cart" deal on NewEgg for an extra 10% off with free shipping:

I dislike metal handles.

Same. Though I made an exception a couple of times. For the Clipitool, even though I currently don't have one, because I like the concept so much. Another for the PITS because it was an awesome deal on a fantastic knife.

Re: Help me choose a Bug

I've been looking at the Byrd Starling 2 the last couple of days. BD1, FFG, G10. Appears to use the Ladybug handle. Shame it's pinned otherwise the blade swap opportunities would be interesting. The Finch 2 is also still available and very inexpensive. Currently the Salt HB and K390 Ladybugs are hig...

Re: Surprised by my favorite tiny knife.

^Nice.

Have bought that one twice and ended up giving both away b/c other ppl liked them so much. If I get another I'll probably go for the scissors, maybe then I'll get to keep it. :)

Your pic almost makes the scales look like ivory g10, which would be amazing.

Re: Surprised by my favorite tiny knife.

Don't have a Roadie, but may pick one up at some point. It's a shame that the TSA never loosened their wedgie and allowed these to be airplane legal as originally intended. If that were the case I'd have a few. My interest in small and tiny knives overall has grown steadily over the years though. I'...

Been thoroughly enjoying my new straight spine Stretch 2 sprint (holy alliteration Batman!,) and a new-to-me g10 Jester sprint lately.

This. Except I like the Native and Chaparral better than the Stretch.

My first choices would be in the order Manix - Chaparral - Native.

My list was in no particular order, but clearly you have impeccable taste. :)

Re: Urban Ti Elmax

I'm a definite maybe. Love the idea, afraid I wouldn't like the price. The only ti I've sprung for was the PITS at a deep discount after it was disco'd (over 60% off msrp, iirc). Glad I picked one up, but it wasn't even on my radar at regular street price. For me, frn or g10 sprints/exclusives would...

Re: What are your favorite ~3.5 inch/ ~3 inch edge 50/50 choil Spydercos and why?

The thread title describes the majority of my Spyderco folders. UKPK/Urban/Caly 3/Caly 3.5/Calypso Jr/PM2/Manix2/Stretch 2/Chaparral/ Native 5... The ergos just work for me. Of the above I'd only say I prefer the behind the choil grip on the Stretch and the Manix. A choil isn't something I have to h...

Ours were never really put away with the mild winter. If it's over ~50 and not raining, we're ready to open the garage door and roll out.

For me it's more about ones I never bought that I wish I did.

Definitely have a few of these.

Right now I'm kicking myself a bit for skipping the 52100/dlc Manix 2. Passed at the time b/c I already have 3 Manix 2s, but I really like the color combo and the steel is right up my alley.

Odd because both voxnaes and anso have large hands
Sorry, I followed you, just went on a tangent.

The hook on the Pingo doesn't bother me, actually like how locked in my grip on the knife feels with it.

Hah nailed it. Is that Jester CE or PE? https://i.ibb.co/X27nvxL/2020-03-03-15-07-49.jpg Pretty high on the Jester right now, but also just got it. It's a user, but not sure if it will actually supplant the Manbug on my keys. Back to topic, will stick with folders for now: Manbug Salt Urban UKPK Ba...

Re: Your top 10 why?

Was kinda hoping someone would catch the reference I threw in at the end, but maybe it'll make more sense next December lol. We need a new Jester Sprint! I got you man, the spice must flow. Also just righted a wrong and picked up the old gray g10 Jester sprint. Would definitely be in on a new one.

Re: Knives you wish that you had kept

None.

Guess I'm a bit of a horder. Think I'm up to 40 or so Spyderco folders now. Have sold off some stuff, but nothing I miss. Definitely could afford to cull the herd again but without any real need to do it, it's easy to put off.

Re: I’ve been carrying my Pingo lately

It's cute and I love the blade shape, but that hook and my ring finger don't mix My only complaint - Spyderco should get the gang back together and do another collab! Lol. I'm a lefty so my wedding band and my knife habit never really mixed. ...I stopped wearing the wedding band years ago.

Re: I’ve been carrying my Pingo lately

^The issue is with rounding out the "D" shaped cutout in the frn. Don't think this would be an issue at all with the ti scaled version. It also isn't limited to the Maniago slip-its, it can happen on the UKPK too. I've disassembled a bunch of them though and never had an issue. Guess it depends on t...

Re: I’ve been carrying my Pingo lately

Pingos rock. It was one of those models I totally overlooked and didn't get until they were disco'd and I picked one up b/c the prices were too cheap to ignore. Then I bought another one. :) Still kind of baffled by the handle. Always thought it looked goofy and uncomfortable before I held one, but ...

If you're still interested, you may want to email them at support@heinnie.com. I contacted them about removing the VAT tax from my order and they were v...
