Re: Something I do not understand about the Chaparral

The lock bar on my Chap lw was very stiff out of the box, but after a break in period it basically feels ideal to me now. I'm curious if anyone who has done the manual lock spring adjustment had it become too soft over time and ended up moving it back? Guess it's possible that mine "broke in" by slo...

Re: Gentleman Jess(Baby Horn)

The sad thing is, it's not that niche of a design. It's such a great knife... Yeah, I agree. Meant more "niche" vs. stuff like the typical uber popular sprints and exclusives. Am surprised the Baby Horn never caught on and got bought up by other crowds considering the popularity of GEC and other tr...

Re: Gentleman Jess(Baby Horn)

Personally would love to see the regular Jess Horn and Baby Horn done up something like this custom:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/293615541182

And in a perfect world pay $350 for the pair. :D

Re: Gentleman Jess(Baby Horn)

The main Problem that the Baby Horn faced, was lack of "wow" factor... Iirc, it was also hampered by early reports of the lock bar being too stiff and hard to disengage. Mine broke in beautifully. The Chaparral lw had similar complaints when it was released, but went on the be very popular. It seem...

Rather have spy27 and British racing green micarta or frn

^Would absolutely buy either of these.

On the Damasteel I'm a maybe due to price concerns. Would vote for standard peel-ply g10, (black or potentially another color,) assuming other non-frn scale materials would cost more.

Re: The Ladybug is a full size knife

So what's the ideal steel for a ladybug, practicality wise? I'd love the idea of k390 or zdp, but it sits at the bottom of a pocket where it could get damp in the summer, and it doesn't really jive with the often carried, rarely used nature of the ladybug - vg10 I guess? Or h1? But then you give up...

Re: Your Personal Collection?

I've had two, my dad decided one was his and when I got the second, a friend made me sell it to him... I'll get another eventually. But, the C27 is technically the original Baby Horn. I've got the box for the one my dad has, if that counts. They're still available, but supplies appear to finally be...

Re: The Ladybug is a full size knife

A new Jester would rock. I think that's the blade shape i'd favor on a bug handle. ^Everyone listen to Enactive. Was fortunate enough to track down a sprint g10 Jester earlier this year and it's a brilliant little knife. Really hope Spyderco brings out more Jester variants in the future.

Re: The Final (probably) Three, Revised

Not a huge collection by any means, but with over 40 Spydie folders, this type of question is always challenging. Fun to think about, but also could probably list a dozen "top 3's." Today I'll go with: Baby Horn: An unexpected all-time favorite. Like everything about it as a "modern traditional." So...

Re: Chapparal LW

I know the Dragonfly is an outstanding knife for a lot people, but it never clicked for me. Maybe because the Chaparral (cf, then frn) and the Urban found their way into my rotation first.

Re: Father's Day Spydercos

Congrats! I've ended up buying myself discounted disco'd Spydies right around Father's day for a few years now, it's become something of a tradition. This year it was a little early, but I got a PE black/black Pacific Salt 1. Past years included an awesome deal on a blue PITS and a Pingo. After that...

Re: I'm falling out of love with the Compression Lock

Not sure that would make a difference, still a thin half bit of handle back there. I need to go do some hard cutting with my Spyderhawk for comparison. Yeah, guess you're right. Hadn't had my Sliverax or PM2 out in a while and thought there might be some relief with the cutout and lock tab reversed...

Sounds like you need left-hand comp lock variants for all of your hard, hammer-grip cutting activities. :)

So I didn’t think spyderco offered aeb-l, will look.

If you haven't already found it, Spyderco did an AEB-L Urban sprint that is fairly inexpensive and still available.

Can't be too offended. I'm on a beach vacation and what I brought meets all of those criteria except for one small SE blade:

PE Pacific Salt 1
AEB-L Urban
Hawkbill Ladybug
Bow River
