Thanks you all for the confidence inspiring replies! Would it be possible for someone to get a comparison pic of a Techno with a Para 2 and a Manbug (or ladybug, jester)? I am trying to gauge how it will fit in my rotation with these knives, and if it will fit in my 5th jeans pocket (hwl measurement...

Techno concerns

I would love to get a techno, and as a poor fellow this is basically my grail, but I have heard some worrying things about it. Mainly that the lock develops lock-rock after a short period, that it fails the spine whack test (extreme (ly stupid) I know), and other lock related things (titanium specif...

Manbug. FFG seals the deal, as well as its slightly stronger and more confidence inspiring build. Yes slightly, but if you can afford the G10 version, which isn't THAT expensive, especially on Amazon, it's worlds apart. http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B005CPBQUQ/ref=dp_olp_new?ie=UTF8&conditi...

Was your title intentionally misleading? I read it as "I just finished grinding my serrations and then I broke 'em, so listen up spyderedge users so you don't make the same mistake."

No, body heat would have no effect on it. Neither would sitting in a closed up car or a hot day or being left in boiling water for an hour. However, unlike G-10, you can soften/melt it with a soldering iron or by leaving it on a stove burner. Whew. And I suppose the slight movement of the pocket fa...

FRN durablity

I have heard that FRN has limited heat resistance compared to G10. If an frn handled knife sits in my pocket for days at a time, exposed to normal body heat, will it show any signs of wear, such as rounded edges on the little bi-directional triangular prisms?

Please I am not saying make a thousand and sell them but have you seriously considered getting your 3d model printed out, if only to prove to yourself that you did it right?

I'll pass on the burned edges and excessively fast removal of expensive sprint run steel. I much prefer to take it slow, one pass at a time, and savor the experience (unless I'm preprofiling ZDP/20CP, then I'm usually cussing at the knife lol). You're just going to have so much fun with s110v aren'...

Thanks for your reply EvilD, I read most of the long posts in the forums I join, not really a tl;dr kind of guy. Now, to anyone with a magna guide/aligner, is there a way you can use ffg knifes without them wobbling? Either by widening the back end of the clip to match the ffg or tilting the blade s...

Personally, here are my thoughts for the "under $100 sharpening system". I would rather have a ~$50 Lansky if it were my only option. My reason is because of the uniform/factory/polished bevels you can achieve with them. They do come with a slew of issues and there's a rather broad learning curve y...

If you have a limit of $200 and want to get something pretty soon (sooner than you can have an extra $100 or so) I think your best way to go is the Edge Pro Apex basic setup. To check further on EP possibilities I would contact Ben Dale at edgeproinc.com and explain your situation, being in Canada ...

No personal experience but it should. You may need to use some chamois to firm it up. That's common with the WEPS clamp too. Ken Thanks. Do you have any idea whether or not the microbevel can be maintained with a clamp on system (magna guide in this case)? Or is it impossible to get close enough tw...

What is the finest DMT grit that will rebevel (at least as easily as the sharpmaker's medium)? An what is the coarsest diamond stone that will give a razor edge? Leaving micro-serrations is great, but a hair shaving edge is necessary. As well, has anyone used the DMT magna-guide on a ladybug/manbug/...

Similar in concept but, IMO, much less precise than EP or WEPS (but certainly also less expensive ;) ) Scorpion, yes, you can reprofile with a SM, with or without diamonds. But it will be slow and difficult to keep the angle as precise as you'd like. Ken What in your opinion is the best system to r...

Sharpmaker best value?

Is the sharpmaker with diamond rods good for re-profiling? The hardest steel would be VG-10. I want to be sure that I could get "perfect" symetrical even bevels with this system. I have basically no experience sharpening. I was wondering if I should use the DMT diasharp Magna-guide for reprofiling. ...
