Re: PE H1 for EDC - how long will it last?

Edge still shaving sharp.
Used for bread, packages and some other minor things.
Today I tuned the pivot screw as it was getting a bit too loose.
Once again the feeling is that ergonomics and general design overcome the type of steel.

Re: Rusted liners after fresh water clean.

Corrosion on liners and pivot are the most important reason I carry Salt knives. It's easy to maintain a carbon steel fixes blade, even in humid conditions, but a folder is another story.

Re: S30v chipping on new knife after first use

Zip ties are hard because of 2 reasons, and none is the actual zip tie:

- the already mentioned instability / lateral forces
- zip ties are often zipped against metal tubes and other hard surfaces and you're likely to cut against those surfaces

Re: PE H1 for EDC - how long will it last?

First few days re-carrying the Dragonfly. Edge still good as new, used it to open packages and make sandwiches. I had to tighten the clip screw, glad I noticed it because I could have lost some parts. The big difference to the Salt 2 is that it open packages much better but doesn't cut bread as easi...

Re: PE H1 for EDC - how long will it last?

Because one test is not test and bro science needs more support :D tomorrow I'll start carrying my PE H1 Dragonfly again until the edge stops working. I changed job on the beginning of December and now I use my knife much less than before (and my flashlight much more), so I expect it to last a coupl...

That biggest problem the CE has is it is not available in H1.

Yes, provided I know what I will be getting.
I agree.
It would be great if Spyderco could ship all the EU knives to a dealer/person/entity and all the shipping inside the EU would be handled by that entity. That way you could reduce a lot of problems with customs.

Re: SpyderEdge 2020 (A Personal "Challenge")

I've been carrying it since I got it, it's gonna be 2 years now. Now and then I use a PE Salt Dragonfly or a Saber Ground ZDP-189 Delica but I'd say 95% of the time the Salt 2 is in my pocket.

How's the challenge going?
So far I've only carried my SE Salt 2, but I was already used to it.

Can't say it's my favorite, but I like the high hollow grind on the Aqua Salt and Dragonfly Salt.

Re: ZDP-189 - Overrated or Super Steel?

Zdp-189 does take a fine edge, but it's not easy to sharpen. With the tools I have, it is a challenge to reprofile, it usually takes days or weeks with the time I have available. I wouldn't want to have it as the only steel in my collection, but it's fun and interesting as an option.

Re: Maintenance Log

Interesting pics. But I have to say: Don´t know why this is, but I almost never have to "maintain" / disassemble my folders. I definitely use my knives, and not only in "light duty" tasks, carry them in less then ideal wet, muddy,... conditions, but they just never seem to rust at me and the action...

May have zero connection to your post but it’s the only other place I’ve ever seen the word “boldog.”
Boldog means happy in Hungarian :)
