Re: Best Handbag Folder for Wife?

Hi Marshmallow,

I do not believe intimidation is effective. Once you show your weapon, your assailant knows what to taker away from you.

Re: Suggestion for changing Spyderco budget knife steel 8Cr13Mov

Hi Karl_H, Welcome to our forum. Hey Aaron, We used the Sandvik steel in the Grasshopper because we didn't want to use the 3Cr that the maker wanted to use. We felt that the Sandvik option would perform better than 3Cr. Frankly, I've not much luck in dealing with Sandvik. Many times discussions at s...

Re: PRICING

Hi Skx013K, Welcome to our forum. Thanx for the suggestions, but perhaps I can offer another point of view. These aftermarket makers developed, built and promoted a product as an accessory to our knives. We are honored that they would extend their time and effort to create something that the custome...

Re: Help with identification of a pin

Hi Rich,

Kelly, our Director of sales and marketing thinks that we made them in house for the kids that attend our "Kids day". She was the only one that remembered them.

Re: Spyderco coffee mug

I will probably begin with a 12 oz. mug that is straight sided and the top and bottom are the same size and the handle is large enough and can hang the mug on a hook up or down. I believe this is the most efficient shape. I will see if they make a larger version?

Re: Grail Achieved, Slight Issue.

We tested elliptical stop pins and found that it changes the tip location when the knife is open. We ended up making adjustable pivots for a while.

Re: Suggestion for changing Spyderco budget knife steel 8Cr13Mov

Hi Ez556, It seems that Eric has gotten the Tenacious maker to try new steels up to S90V. There is also another maker that has purchased a new heat treating oven with all of the bells and whistles so the future may offer more. Aaron, Why would you consider 14c28n an upgrade to 8cr13MoV? There is mor...

Re: Suggestion for changing Spyderco budget knife steel 8Cr13Mov

Hi Zuludelta, Thanx for the kind words. We don't know the "why" of the Polestar and Alcyone's lower sales. I spent the better part of year on the designs and they were primarily for the Boy Scouts. We made them in China to make them more affordable for the kids. We felt the better steel would be a p...

Re: PRICING

I think I'd pay a little extra if it somehow magically stopped this topic from coming up every few months. I'd gladly pay a yearly membership for this site if it meant I never saw another thread complaining about sprints or pricing again. Hi Chris, While to some of us, it can certainly feel like ta...

Hi Kat,

I think the older one with only one hole is an older version. I think the newer version with the 2 sets of anles would be the best.

We don't sell the base without the stones as the old stones are slightly different.

Re: Suggestion for changing Spyderco budget knife steel 8Cr13Mov

Hi Aaron, Welcome to our forum. Were always looking at steels and makers. We've made some progress in Japan and China using imported steels. As Paul mentioned, using domestic steels will always be less expensive than using imported steels. And as "Notsure" mentioned, the market has not responded wel...

Hi Albatross,

We did that for a while twenty some years ago. Maybe ahead of it's time? I agree that'a it's a good idea. I'll bring it up with management.

Re: Spyderco coffee mug

Our first coffee mug maybe 20+ years ago was a black cup with white bugs crawling all over it. I'm going to try to recreate something like that first. Maybe a black cup with red bugs all over it.
